Nac282

Hi All,
So I finally found 282 to integrate with my:
XS2 (as a power amp), HCDR, CD5Si.
I have DIN4 to DIN4.
Other sources: Cyrus signature phonostage, Chord qutest, apple TV.
Currently all works via RCA but the CD that works with DIN.

Any suggestions on how to connect?

Ron

Do you have the manual for the Nait? It will explain using power amp mode. Similarly the 282 manual will explain how to connect the Hicap - Hicap socket 4 to 282 upgrade 1 socket.

Have a look at the manuals. Don’t be surprised if it doesn’t sound as amazing as you think it should. I’ve always struggled using slimline and classic together. The synergy is just not there. It’s a great stepping stone though. When funds allow, add a Nap200 or Nap250 and you will be amazed.

As HH suggests, the xs2 manual is online, p11 tells how to connect as a power amp.

How about RCA to DIN cables?
I understand that the 282 has only 1 RCA input..
So I would need additional 2 - one for qutest and one for AppleTV.

It has two RCA inputs.

I see that one of the RCA inputs is aux2 and the other is CD.
Can I use the CD RCA input for other source than CD, while using the CD DIN input for the CD5si?

Is it the diagram for XS2 as well?

You can’t use the DIN and RCA sockets for the same input at the same time - they are alternative connections for a single (CD or aux 2) input.
You can use other DIN inputs for a CD player - the names are just for convenience, so if, for example, you were using the RCA CD input for something else, you could connect your CD player to the tuner input.
Alternatively just use RCA to DIN cables as you suggested.

Naim do a very good RCA to Din cable for about £130. I certainly wouldn’t spend £399.

Yes.

Be sure to configure your NAIT XS2 as a power amp first, as @bruss said earlier.

I have uploaded the diagram that show the same for SN2.. is it the way to go?
Is there other way to define the XS2 as power amp?

I’d be tempted to get a used NAP90 for approx 100-200 GBP instead - I’m fairly sure it would sound better - and your integrated would then be available for a second system / spare / sale.

I disagree. The xs2 as an amp punches well above its weight. Add a better pre such as the 82/282 and it is a high value for money system.

OK no worries - if you’ve compared the options, I’m happy to take your word.

I have a flatcap/92/90 and an xs2. The xs is the better option. The xs is let down only by its pre amp section. I have run the xs with a 62/82/252 just to test it. Even the 62 is an improvement in clarity over the pre in the xs to my mind.
