Naim 222 and Aurender server

Naim 222 can’t see my new Aurender server with local files ,please help me fix

I thought Aurender servers need to be connected to a DAC. It may well be that an Aurender is not appropriate with a 222.

Which model?
If it doesn’t support upnp over your network, then they might need to be connected together, with the aurender acting as digital transport into the 222 dac.

As above, I don’t think Aurender uses UPNP. Please confirm Aurender model.

Do you want to use the Naim app to play files? Or the Aurender app?

I checked and read that some Aurender do UPNP. But maybe not all.

Hi thanks for the reply , the model is the Aurender acs100

Hi prefer the Naim app but if both work that’s great

The Aurender does not have upnp, so will need to connect directly to the 222. I believe you’ll also need a USB to spdif converter, as the Aurender only has USB output and the 222 is not a USB dac.

You’ll need to control the music with the Aurender app, and the 222 volume with the Naim app or remote.

I wonder if the best thing to do is to take the Aurender back and to buy a Naim Core. As well as being much cheaper, the Core will work seamlessly with the 222.

The Aurender and 222 are really not a sensible pairing and I wonder what made you get the Aurender in the first place. If it’s new, the supplying dealer is really the first port of call.

I’d be having a word with the dealer if he sold you the device knowing you had a 222.

The documentation is really unclear; it doesn’t outright say “upnp” but it does infer it. Or perhaps there’s a proprietary protocol?

Edit: pretty sure it’s proprietary and it will talk to another aurender device but not a 222. No mention of upnp, so it cannot serve across your network.

What they said ^^^ take it back to the dealer.

ACS100 - A Library Utility Companion to Another Aurender Player

ACS100 is intended to be used as companion piece or add-on for use with another Aurender player. In this case, the ACS100 functions as the “mothership” where your entire music library resides. Your other Aurender will sync and stream content from the ACS100 storage (this is configurable in the “ACS” section of the Settings Menu in the Conductor app). This is an ideal solution for a critical listening system because it minimizes the amount of background computer tasks performed by the primary Aurender player.

In order to use ACS100 as a companion to another Aurender player, both devices must be on the same LAN. However, they will not be DIRECTLY connected via Ethernet or any other cable. So, you may install the ACS100 and other Aurender(s) in different rooms as long as they are both/all connected to the same network.

hi thanks for the input . I did consider the core but my research "which I didn’t do enough of clearly , but was an amazing deal " sonicly the aurender is a better product compared to an ageing core .

The Core maybe be aging but they work, I’ve had one for 3 trouble free years.

If you want something that is very easy to use, just works, and sounds great, a Core is a perfect solution. I wouldn’t be without mine.

Just to offer an alternative there is also the Innuos zen 3

I only suggested Core because you appear to want an ‘audiophile’ server solution. I wouldn’t touch a Core myself, and prefer to use a Qnap NAS, ripping with a Mac. It would be interesting to compare the sonics of a £500 NAS with a £4,000 Aurender.
