Naim 272 won't play an internet radio streaming playlist

I am trying to learn German, so I tried putting a streaming URL in a playlist, served by Asset from a NAS. Asset streams my CDs out fine on the LAN

I know the radio from the app is borked on the 272 but I never really used that, this bypasses that (non)functionality. Is it reasonable to expect the 272 to play a streaming playlist or is that just something it won’t do? The app sees the playlist and I can select it and try pressing play but nothing is heard.

Foobar 2k on my PC plays it fine, so that eliminates typos and the asset playlist serving

the file is BR24.m3u and contains

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,Bayerischer Rundfunk 24
https://dispatcher.rndfnk.com/br/br24/live/mp3/mid

Try minimserver

You do know that there was a firmware update that added the new Naim internet radio service to the 272? You can install it yourself.

@davidhendon > update
I sucked this up and it worked well, I have all the radio I want now and can find it ok, and do podcasts. Thanks for the kick up the backside to get this sorted :wink:

@robert_h Thanks for the references, that sort of convinced me to go the official route. Seems Minimserver does M3U streams properly unlike Asset but I don’t do software subscriptions if at all possible. But I did get a deeper understanding. The updated 272 still won’t take the M3U streaming file but that’s not a problem now.

Many thanks for helping me get this sorted
