Naim and Dynaudio Thread

Anyone using the evoke 30’s?

I auditioned some Dynaudio speakers at a local dealer soon after the Evoke range was launched. He put the Evoke 30s on for a bit, just to let me hear them, but they were very new and I think that it is a well known fact that Dynaudio speakers never sound their best straight out of the box. I was not impressed but it would be interesting to hear them now and see how they had matured. They are, however, too much speaker for my room and I ended up with the Special 40 which is a perfect solution for me and has enough bass to fill the room without the need for a sub.

[quote=“JosquinDesPrez, post:275, topic:904, full:true”]I suppose a xover would be low (variable line) level and sit between the preamp and amp. The low-pass output would go to the sub and the high pass to the amp. But that’s another component and additional two sets of cables to deal with. and think it might even have a negative impact on sound quality

Ime, with all things being equal an active subwoofer crossover certainly helps in not wasting a subwoofers potential. When effectively aligned, calibrated and dialled in the difference is nothing but positive. Simply a profound improvement to the overall performance of the system.

Nine more times to go…

One of the best active sub threads ever! Too bad you’ve started this in the Naim/Dyn thread.

And then you’ll get an active subwoofer crossover

Can the two individuals who are ad nauseam arguing about subwoofers please create their own thread do do it in, or at least stop it in this thread? PLEASE! I started this thread to talk about Dynaudio speakers and this has gone way off topic. If you continue I will tell teacher!

I recently purchased contour 30s and I’m pairing them with a nova, I only have about 50 hours on them so far. But I’m super happy with this combination

Sure you did. Pics would settle this:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

hey guys, i’m new to this forum, and i’m planning to get an Uniti Atom with Evoke 20’s, everyone have heard this combination? They’ve enough power to drive them?

Look at the Evoke 30s instead of the 20s. When we auditioned all 4 models the 20 was my least favorite. Too much bass bloat for me. IMHO

Hello nelson, thanks for answering, unfortunately my budget it’s very tight and i don’t have enough space to rock the 30’s, the placement for the speakers would make them sound worse, i think.

I am bin had them 3 month still breaking in but love them

It does take a while to break them in😁 awesome looking setup!

Did anyone here get a chance to audition the Confidence 20? Apparently the monitor is a very easy drive not requiring any mega amplification.

I heard them at the Signals Dynaudio day…there is a thread if you search. I really liked them and spent quite some time with Bill from Dynaudio…only trouble was it was a nd555/552/500 system. So it does not really answer your question on reasonable priced amps.
At the Signals Rega bash today the top Rega system of RP10/Aura and new Aethos amp (£3k) were tried the day before by Andy and Alistair with Confidence 60,s in the large demo room…apparently sounded good. They were not used in the end as it would be a poor match price wise. So bearing that in mind the new Rega Aethos amp or a Naim SN3 could possibly be a nice match with the 20’s. As ever best to listen if you can.

On another forum I visit there is a member considering trade in of his C4 for CF20. Not many available here n US for demo but on my list once they arrive close to me.

Thanks, I appreciate all the information. I always liked the Dynaudio sound but a lot of their speakers demanded decent power to sound their best and were not an option for me.
