Naim Atom or Rega Brio R plus B Node. Which is the best musically?

Naim Atom or Rega Brio R plus Bluesound Node. Which is the best, musicality??

I think you need to audition them both ?

I’m very impressed with the Node X - and even the node Nano is supposed to be better than the node X (per the British audiophile YouTube channel).

I’ve got the node x playing through the supernait 3 - very satisfying.

Maybe get a Node Icon and a Naim integrated? Get a nait 5si or even a Nait 5i-2/xs depending on budget.

That’s entirely for you to judge. What is ‘musicality’? Whatever it means to you will be different to someone else! Take a listen yourself.

Given the choice of the options you mention, I’d go with the Naim.

Asking that question on a Naim forum, you must know what answers you’ll mostly get. But it’s all so subjective, so go along to a dealer and have a listen.

And… if you like the BlueSound, add the Node Icon and Nait 50 to your shortlist.

Thanks for your replies

This is a Naim Forum after all …

I also have the node x connected to the brio sometimes - the node x sounds better with the sn3. Which just means that the Node x is a good source. The SN3 was > 5K in the US and the Brio was 1K - so no surprises about the amp.

You may wish to consider the Atom HE. I’m very happy with my HE and active PMC’s setup.

It seems you already have the Atom. So why consider a switch to the Node and a Rega amplifier?

Because my speakers needs another amplifier. My Atom is to much punchy ! I need to make a test with something different.

What are your speakers, and what does too much punchy mean?

OP system. Let’s find how the Atom can be too punchy.

I have change my speakers. That need a more musical and soft amplifier. Ideally a tube one !

Not really nice to take someone’s picture and post it, isn’t it?

Oh guys, come on! The intention was positive. I was trying to help and give material to progress into this thread.
Do I need to apologise, @Jubeph ?
Good luck with your problem.

To be fair, I think all FR was doing was to try and help, I found the same picture just by putting the OP name in the forum search bar.

It gives a bit more information that might help explain the use of punchy. An internet search suggests that the speakers are 93dB efficiency so that they might go loud quickly within a small part of the volume control.

It highlights how trying to find words to describe sound is so difficult. A long time ago a friend had a pair of Elipson bookshelf speakers. The amp was bought from Comet or Lasky and I would describe the combination as brash, shouty, in your face. To me difficult to listen to, to him it was real hifi.

So for the OP, is this what you mean by punchy?

What made you pick the Rega Brio?

Then, preferably a valve amp… the picture suggests that might not be practical, at a similar price to a Brio, you might get an Icon Audio integrated, but it would not fit in the place the Atom occupies, so are you also budgetting for new furniture?
