If you’ve been refunded your money and allowed to keep the CD player, it could become the basis for a piece of Naim Audio metal sculpture, which if done properly would look nice in a Naim based sound room.

Not by me. Used first on its own when it sounded really good, then with FCXS, then with XPS, finally with XPSDR. Now plying nicely into Nait 50.

I hope you fix it. Only with a used Naim mechanism if that’s what you found, any pattern parts will likely not be close to Naim spec. I think it’s worth a go to keep an old Naim component “On the road”.

The mechanism I’m buying is from the same player as mine. It’s being delivered tomorrow so all I have to do is remove the platter from the donor mechanism and fit it to my player.
I’m quite familiar with this type of work over the years; I once had a Cyrus cd7q and before that a Marantz cd63 both similar mechanisms and I replaced the whole mechanism on both machines. All I needed to do was use antistatic measures and both worked flawlessly afterwards..
If all goes well I may get a Flatcap 2 and get it serviced.

All fixed?
Good morning guys, I received the ‘donor’ parts yesterday and upon upon taking the substantial packing off, I found a whole thing intact which included the pull-out tray.
I managed to take the whole mechanism out to lubricate the sleds and do basic checks to see if anything was cracked or full of dust etc. I had a can of compressed air so I used that before commencing anything and apart from the accumulation of dust all looks good.
I carefully removed the platter from the donor mechanism and fitted it to my player, then plugged the player into the mains with the lid off, put a CD on and hey ho, it plays ! .
I left it playing for the duration of the CD [79mins], and the put the lid back on and connected it to my amplifier.
On first listen it sounded awful if I’m honest, so I left it on repeat until late last night, then had a quick listen, all seemed better but I was really tired at this point so I went to bed.
This morning I called my missus who’s off work today and asked her if she could have a listen, and she reported it sounds fantastic but the green logo is a bit dim which I didn’t notice myself. I’m assuming Naim could fix this ?
Anyhow, it looks like it’s a keeper and I may get a Flatcap for it soon but not sure which one yet.

I’m thrilled to have saved this lovely player from the scrap heap. How long it’ll last I don’t know but the laser scans discs very quickly and the HDCD light comes on so I think the laser has got a few years in it.

I wouldn’t send a CD player back to Naim for any non-essential work like a logo repair. The risks of damage in transit are too high.

Yes I agree, but I doubt whether Naim would supply a new logo or bulb. From what I observed after taking the lid off my CDP I think it’s connected via ribbon cable but I might wrong..
Are both logos dim.
Just install or keep the brightest one.

The half moon logos are pretty easy to change out on most Naim kit - bar the NAP500!
