I know, for the moment Is the easier way. I’ll eventually change cable sockets
…better if you change the plugs at the end of your tonearm cable…
The soldering is fiddly but not so difficult.
Leave the 62 original…
Outstanding commitment and result.
Of course!
62/90 on duty from yesterday, taking Place of Nait50 for the moment, i’m very impressed by overall musicality of this old amps. I think the 90 Is a very special one even compared with bigger 110/140 which i owned many moons ago. In fact at that time i had one on loan and It seemed sweeter and more vivid than my 140.
Antonio told me that 62/90 have all the magic attributes of Nait 1 in separate boxes whith the option of additonal supplies.
When I have compared,I have found that it’s the Preamp that is the star in this combination, a Nap 120,Nap110 or
Nap 140 is much better than the Nap 90 in my opinion.
And it’s not even powered by Snaps or Hi Cap here
I thought the NAP 90 was a bit underrated when I had one. I liked it’s nimble character and it still sounded like a CB Naim amp, but I too preferred the 110 overall, just like I prefer a 110 over a 140.
Closest pre/power combo to a Nait that I heard was 12/110 but would be interesting to hear 62/90.
I have 42.5/110 and 62/90, all recently serviced at class A
tThey both sound lovely, in a small room with standmount speakers. and a medium spec LP12.
I prefer both with an olive hi cap.
I know the 90 is not liked much here, but I think it very underated, It has a sweetness the bigger amps dont.
What power supply do you have for your LP12? The two-speed ON/OFF switch and the small black box to the right of your LP12 suggest you have a the original Lingo, but I’ve never seen a Lingo case with air vents in it.
The Lingo was introduced in 1990, so if you do have a Lingo, your LP12 is early-90s spec.
Those chrome bumper boxes and your LP12 look great together!
It’s untouched. Definitely take your previous suggestion – send to Goldring for a re-tip if anything happens. For now it’s good old sound, sounds exceptionally good with press from 70s 80s. I’m also interested to see how the other Linn/Supex MC sounds like, or maybe switch back to MM cart like Adikt for less refined but more natural sound in future.
Hey Paul, thanks I’m glad you liked them!
It’s Hercules/Mose, very much a Valhalla (even sounds like so) with all the benefit of a outboard psu and 33/45 switching. I wish to stay original with Valhalla but just too noisy given my close listening environment. A Mose seems the best of both world for my case.
Interesting, thanks.
I am too much of a worrier to use original carts for long periods but perhaps I should relax when they still sound good like my K9.
@murmur I see there are plenty of K9 stocks out there! All seems with fair price. And to my impression the vintage Linn carts (either Supex and AT) are tough and having long life there, compare to my experience of other Shure and Grace carts – one accident and the cantilever got completely destroyed. So definitely enjoy the sound of vintage carts first!
That’s good to know, although a bit of a lottery in terms of wear.
That’s an interesting move, what prompted that?
Looking at your profile, I can’t seem your Linn or Rega mentioned, is it up to date?

Actually i’m doing a U turn on my decision having get in touch and visited Antonio Trebbi shop in Pisa Music For Life. He’s got a huge experience in fitting and setting up Sondeks even more than Linn itself, he built them at the factory some decades ago and was selected by Julian and Ivor like Linn/Naim agent for Italy.
They have at least half a dozen Sondeks in the shop now plus the one at home with Active ATC 50s. The audio experience has been mindblowing. He told me that Is very usual seeing Sondeks badly fitted or set up even by dealers with good reputation. So he promise me to set up mine properly
Sounds like you will get something sorted, that’s good news.
