Naim Chrome Bumper

32.5/160 is like a slightly bigger version of a Nait 1. Strangely, and unfortunately, none of the other CB pre/powers manage that trick for me.

Roon radio started playing that album just after I’d finished Kiwanuka (fantastic album) a couple of days back. Really good.

I’ve streamed Kiwanuka in the kitchen a couple of times but really need it on vinyl. I did look at it again earlier this week funny enough but decided not to bother cos it’s split over 2 LPs with about 3 tracks per side. However, you’ve inspired me to just do it and so I’ve ordered a copy.

Just set up my new Blumenstein Orca speakers with refurbished Nait2. Streaming Tidal via new Bluesound Node 2i.
Very musical. The only issue is that the left channel only comes in when volume control is past 6:30 pm and it is quite loud then.

Ps I adjusted volume setting on the Bluesound app so have fixed the left channel problems and can control volume by the app , which is a bonus.

Nice setup !
I had the problem with my NAIT2, the volume pot was completly broken in balancing, but there is a way to get another pot to fix this issue.

Guibo, I am glad you got yours fixed. Apparently with these old amps at very low volumes with sensitive speakers you need to turn the volume up higher to get the balance back. Making the volume output less sensitive on the Bluesound app has circumvented the problem.

There is the same problem with Nait1… Happy you find a way to workaround the issue

Now my Uniti is back on CD playing duty in the lounge, my little aesthetic experiment is in the attic paired with the Nait 1 playing nicely.

That CD player looks great in a CB sleave, home made?

Yes, just a little shaving to fit in the sleeve, that’s all.

if i wanted to have more from nap250 / 62 / hicap what should i replace them with the current naim catalog?

I think that if you were looking to comprehensively better them (assuming they are in tip top condition, and that the source is up to snuff) then you’d probably be looking at something like a NAC282/Hicap DR/NAP250DR. Of course you may find you prefer the current range even at a lower level, and of course you have better facilities, connectivity and remote control convenience. If you wanted to go in stages, then I would start with the pre-amp. Do make sure though that your NAP250 is regularly serviced at the 8-10 year mark, as with the regulated amps servicing is mandatory as performance can tail off considerably as components age and fall out of spec.

I did the service just yesterday, I have yet to receive them.
Since they are in like new condition I thought of selling them since with the service just performed they can be worth more and take the current production.
to which products in the current catalog are the 250/62 / hicap comparable in terms of performance?

Impossible to say as you aren’t really comparing like with like, particularly with regard to the pre-amp. I would suggest you arrange to demo some classic pre/power combos, perhaps starting with the NAC202/NAP200DR. What are your sources?

i only use the turntable, i currently use a technics sl1600mk2 with a nagaoka mp110, but i contacted cymbiosis to purchase an LP12 / valhalla / akito / trampolin for christmas.

Very nice. And which cartridge will you be using? Are you sticking with the MP110?

I preferred the technics sl1600mk2 with the mp110 to the roksan xerxes with tabriz and adikt.
the 1600 is the home version of the famous 1200, it has the same tonearm and the same engine but with a floating frame
