The XS3 and SN3 both have proper pre-amps inside. In that way they can be split and used as a pre-amp or power amp, if need be.
And would you know about the Uniti series? Which do have a pre-out.
The current Unitis are different again as the pre-amp does a fair bit digitally (analogue inputs are digitised) before converting to analogue.
I have just read that a NAC 112 has “line input sensitivities 75mV 100 ohms”. So it looks like a cd player will connect with the tuner (or tape) input on a 42.5 no problem?
Thanks for your thought regarding re-positioning the preamp below the cartridge. It’s at times like this I wish that I’d had longer lengths of NAC A5 made up so that i could move the 250 further away!
Lovely. How do you find the difference between the 140 and the 250?
I have an olive 62/HC/140 (all serviced) and probably be an 82 as my next move on that (although it sounds great)
What’s the components in that set up? I can guess most.

Thanks! I’m not so good at describing improvements in sound other than you get a whole lot more with the 250 of what you already have with the 140.
I bought new olive 72/HC/140 in 1994 and was drawn in to buying a new 82 at the end 96 not so long after it was launched. The temptation of remote control & an anticipated step towards the performance of a 52 being the main reasons (well it looked like a 52!). It was good, however, not a big game changer in the context of my system at that time. A couple of years later I switched the the 140 for a pair of olive 135’s and 82 for a 52 & PS (in that order) and they’re still the heart of my main system 20+ years later.
After seeing @GaryYeowell’s setup further back up the thread, I thought it was time to get my Nait 1 out for a play. I’ve not had a chance to try it with a Naim front end until now. Apart from some initial confusion over channels as the Tuner input has L&R reversed, it’s warming up nicely and seems to rather like being fronted by an NDX2.
There is a beauty in simplicity. And the sound the little box produces is so sweet.
Very nice indeed James!
Of course the obvious question … will you stop there or will you need a little more grunt
Indeed. How are you getting on with yours ?
Tour De France sounding really good at the moment. Might hang on a bit for the service (it has never had one). These little Naits are real marvels. The CB Nait 2 in the main system just edges it for me (is that because of the service? )
How does the Nait 1 sound differ from the Devialet?
Who knows Mr T. I’ve not had a ‘full’ Naim system for a few years now so it’ll be interesting giving the Nait a week or so to see how things go. Must stay away from the PF classifieds
I’ve not really had a proper chance to compare but given present restrictions I’ll have more time to play around. I’ll report back…
It would certainly be worth getting yours serviced. Mine had been done a year before I bought it so it’s still pretty fresh given the usage it’s had since it’s service in 2017. Lovely little thing though. Very jealous of your CB Nait 2 !
I’ve owned 3 CB Nait 2s and 2 Olive Nait 2s. I wish I had held on to them all now (given current prices) but their sale (with the exception of one which was bought knackered, serviced and resold) was required to buy other better(?) Naim gear (climb that ladder!) There was always regret and a sense of loss.
Well you get news and pictures of mine from time to time, Neil As you helped me with sale of my Olive Nait 2 and purchase of my CB Nait 2 in 2008 already, how time flies!
Serviced by Darran at time of purchase and probably good for a few more years before I have to send it across the Channel again.
I remember you were already shocked back then what the Olive one went for (it was a rather nice one though, and recently serviced) and they have only gone up since.
