Naim exchange program

Just got an email for the exchange program and I have 3x of the items on the list. It doesn’t say if the exchange is limited to a one to one trade in though.

Anyone used it and know if I can trade in 3x items against one i.e Unitiqute+ND5XS+NDX part exchanged for a Uniti Nova

That sounds unlikely although it isn’t explicitly excluded in wording. It does say:

If you wish to enhance your setup further, additional components such as NPX 300, NAP 250, NAP 350, or NAC 332 can be added to your purchase — with extra benefits included.*

and then doesn’t really say what those extra benefits are.

I’d suggest speaking to your dealer. I expect you should be able to work something out with them.

I am not looking to exchange but I would love these offers to be offered in other countries.

It says that the value of what you buy must exceed that of the item traded, but if all three combined come in below it shouldn’t (in theory) be an issue. The only way to know is to ask your dealer.

If it’s anything like the equivalent Linn promotions, your dealer may have a certain amount of discretion they can use.

I’d imagine any dealer are interested in such business, but on his terms.

Basically they won’t pay much for your older items with old streaming platform, is my bet, because they could be items hard to resell, at least the two streamers.

I believe your gonna get more $ in private deals for your s/h kit.

This is depending, if you take the wait and hassle it often is selling private.

My experience with two similar items…., my last UQ1 went for aprox €300 (faded screen) ND5XS €400, not sure about NDX.

It could very well be different in your part of the world.

This one is being underwritten by Naim so the exchanged units go back to Naim rather than staying with the dealer to sell. I assume the dealer gets some form of credit note as Naim want them out of circulation

Prices seem pretty much market values as well

It’s tempting as I’ve got £1500 in trade in if they accept multiple items, without the grief of endless stupid questions on eBay.

I have two or three boxes that can be exchange , so I guess normal trade in terms apply

Does anyone have any experience of how the CI-Uniti sounds in comparison with the Superuniti? Am considering trading my Superuniti in, albeit only if a material uptick in SQ! Thanks, David

As was the case when naim offered a similar manufacturer backed scheme to remove obsolete products previously, targeted at moving people from UnitiServe to Core etc.

Good value.

£750 for a SuperUniti is not too shabby, we paid only a few hundred pounds more for ours in 2020 (but it was freshly serviced).

Much will depend on how you perceive the differences, if any, between Class A/B and Class D…….

As ever, the audition, preferably at home, is your guide.

Good point! Thank you.

I don’t understand if Naim wants them out of circulation.

They’d possible sell to entirely different customer base.

Somebody which never would buy expensive stuff - or somebody which will be tempted to go higher in Naim hierarchy.

I know a few coming from Muso or Uniti, looking for seperates.

Probably because they may no longer have the parts to service or repair.

What if you buy an NDS for £1500 only to find it goes faulty 3 months later and then Naim say we can’t fix that.

They now have a very disgruntled former potential customer.

Avoid reputational damage.

Thats a very valid point.

There are various benefits for Naim. It boosts sales, reduces the service dept workload, and reduces the number of disappointed owners of items that can’t be repaired.

If this is true, then indeed a very clever move if you ask me …

The trade in prices seem pretty fair. If my NDX failed I’m not sure what I would replace it with, I wouldn’t want a 222 as I have no need of a pre amp.

I’d love a chrome bumper streamer to match my Nait 50.

The NDX was of course succeeded by the NDX2, which in turn was replaced by the 333, so that would be the natural replacement, not the 222. Yes, it’s more expensive even if you adjust the price by inflation. C’est la vie.

I am enquiring about an Atom HE , it will replace my UnitiQute 2

I use the UnitiQute as a DAC .
I bought it second hand for ( if my memory serves me correctly) £450, now being offered a very decent trade in price.
My ND5Xs2 less so. it is possible that two Naim boxes :package: go and one Naim :package: replaces them. The DAC duties in my rack will be replaced by an ever so ‘ umble but dinky audiolab. ( I am quite impressed by it)
