Naim Internet Radio - Feedback & Requests - Part 17

Hi @Martingj56

On downtime the only thing detected is when they switched to a new server vs Naim switching it over in our system (about 7hrs).

On random dropouts we only auto play about 10secs of each station so typically won’t detect random dropouts.

Url wise we use:

https://stream.americanrootsradio.com:3035/stream

Which is hosted here:

Let me know from what website or app you use on your mobile device and i’ll check if it’s using the same stream url.

@Stevesky Thanks for your fast reply. I hoped you could see something, but for now it is what it is. Although it is the only station we have these drop-outs and it started after their move, so there must be some kind or relationship between drop-outs and move.
We usually check with the same url you’re using, the original American Roots app or another free radio provider like onlineradiobox.com

Hi @Martingj56

I played the station for about 2hrs yesterday and so far didn’t get any dropouts. From checking the diagnostic stats it has about 6secs worth buffered. It’s not more as the station doesn’t buffer more server side. Even so, that is normally enough for a stable link, even when going intetnational.

Hi @Stevesky Thank you very much for taking the time to investigate.
Yesterday evening was a good one, we had only one glitch, but in the afternoon it was unlistenable. As it is my wife’s favorite station we’ll keep an ear on it to see if we can find a pattern and maybe also try to contact the station directly.

Regards, Martin

Hi Martin,

As a test i’ve switched the stream to their http variant rather than the https one. See if it makes any difference as indicates they have a server loading issue.

Hello to the whole Naim team,
As we do every year, we hope that the app will support the display of metadata and album artwork for radio streams, just like BluOS and WiiM, and that Radio Paradise will feature a ‘Skip’ button.
This is a real source of frustration for me and for many audiophiles.
We hope this issue will be at the top of your list of priorities this year.

Hi @ArnoldParis

Thanks for the feedback.

On artwork we are always improving this area so lets wait for next release to see what it has

Regarding Radio Paradise, various manufacturers have implemented their API so it appears as a Streaming service. In practice the listener base for Radio Paradise is quite limited and we supply services like AIrplay and Chromecast for such things to interact with mobile apps. Example attached with a CI102.

Great news from the best Jazz radio channel available!

The Jazz Groove has added 35,000+ Hi-Res jazz recordings to our library, thanks to an anonymous fellow audiophile supporter. That brings our collection to more than 50,000 tracks! And not only does that mean even more variety, the audio quality of this material is absolutely exquisite.

This treasure trove spans eight decades, from the '50s through today, and includes mint-quality out-of-print records expertly transferred from vinyl to digital – the crème de la crème of jazz from Blue Note, Verve, ECM, Mack Avenue, Steeplechase, Savoy, Riverside, Atlantic, Warner Jazz, and too many others to list.

Starting this week and continuing into the coming months, you’ll notice a massive freshening of the music mix on all five of our jazz radio stations as we meticulously code, catalogue, and curate this goldmine – to elevate your mood and reduce your stress. Take a look at just some of these fine jazz recordings we’re adding to our collection.

Hi Naim folks.

We have a new local station just launched down here in Cornwall - Nation Cornwall (launches today on DAB+).

Will this automatically appear with the other Nation Stations? If not would you add it please?

Andy.

Hi @andrewb

Devon and Cornwall local feeds live in the system earlier on today. See:

They seem to have a misconfiguration on the Cornwall feed at the moment as incoming at 192kbit on the 320kbit feed. However, with Nation apart from adverts etc. its typically all the same broadcast for Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

@stevesky Thanks Steve, found on all my devices.

Andy.

Is anyone experiencing problems with Times Radio? Came in from work about 5pm, checked a few times since and get on screen message saying stopped’ pressing play doesn’t get it to start.

Hi @nitrous

The Times changed their server url earlier on today, but we had an auto update from XPeri that made it work again.
