Naim Mu-so 2: wifi disconnection

Generally speaking my Mu-so 2 works absolutely fine but at least once a week it loses wifi connection (on switch on from standby) and I get the flashing yellow light with no progress… however long I leave it.

I end up having to switch off completely at the mains, leave it for a few minutes and then switch on again. It then reboots: flashing white light, then purple then connected.

Anyone else experienced this? Is it normal?

Yes. I used to get this. I only really used my muso2 as a soundbar. Often turn on telly and no sound from the mudo2. Switch off at mains, wait, back on. It usually worked after that. Annoying though.

I have a very stable Mu-so 2 wifi connection.

You may wish to check for overlapping Wifi SSIDs channels from nearby networks interfering with yours.

Also check the strength of your Wifi signal at your Mu-so

I wrote some tips in the link below

Used to get this, but seems stable now, I wont be doing any FW installs from now on

Thanks for the replies. Glad I’m not the only one! The Mu-so is only about 9ft away from the router (across a room) with nothing in-between.

Will look into signal-strength testing. I’m on Android.

I had a Muso QB many years ago and it was constantly dropping the Wi-Fi signal and I had to keep re-booting it. Eventually sold it on.

However, it may have been Wi-Fi issues as it was found out that I did have significant issues with the BT Wi-Fi.

So my issue may have been that, combined with the Muso WB not having a good Wi-Fi set up.

It would be worth getting your Wi-Fi fully checked out.

Hi @Carabosse Just for interest our MU2 is almost 12 meters from the wifi router, for some reason the stability become solid after the Qobuz introduction, I cant explain that one! In the past I almost returned it as it was so annoying. Our router is a basic one that came with our German internet contract with Telekom, its nothing special.

I sometimes wonder if there is some variation in the WiFi modules between individual units. We have a QB1 and a QB2, both on WiFi. The first has been flawless whereas the QB2 occasionally loses WiFi contact and needs rebooting. This, in spite of the reputation for much poorer WiFi on first generation models and the QB1 being twice as far from the router. Funny old world.

I’ve had that for years, but recently it’s been fine. Not sure what prompted the improvement, is it the QB firmware, AP firmware or perhaps simply the environment?

Mine, a qb2, has been rock solid on wfi

My Mu-so 2 drops out regularly. Kind folk on this forum have suggested remedies, but nothing solves the problem. Wi-Fi connectivity with a range of other devices in the house is rock solid.
I’m currently trying to update to the latest firmware but the outer rim of the control dial has been flashing on and off for 24 hours now. It’s very frustrating, especially as I ditched Sonos for the Mu-so.
