My B&W 804Ss are intended to be biwired. Once I moved to NACA5 (which I too find excellent, by the way), I did one run of cable from the amp to the speakers and then bought some jumper cables to replace the jumpers that B&W provide.
I found a Naim dealer north of the border that makes jumper cables out of NACA5. It looks like they still sell them through fleaBay - they’re described as ‘Naim NACA5 speaker links (pair)’. See how you get on - I wasn’t disappointed.
Sounds like the ones I ended up with. They are separate short cables just between the speaker terminals, well made and tidy and made from the same NACA5 cable. both sets of A5 I own were made by the same Naim dealer and use those AirLOC banana plugs which have a snug fit both ends and have been trouble free for some years now.
It’s got me curious now about the construction and materials of the super lumina speaker cable connectors which are more like a typical banana plug but appear to be made of a nickel plated material perhaps?
Is it possible to put Lumina plugs on A5 and if so are they soldered or cold welded / crimped when made?
I’m hoping to avoid any tinkering with all these out loud questions btw!
I’ve heard that if Naca5 is not used for a long period of time (3 months or more) it will return to its previous state (before burn in). And we will need 6 months to re-burn it agin. Can this be true?
Has the person you heard that from actually done that test and if so how did they measure the difference?
I have a spare set I could swap in that haven’t been used for a while to see if my cloth ears can tell a difference. I can’t imagine it would make a massive difference but the sensitivity of the system as a whole will play a part. I could test it and find no discernable difference and someone else repeat the same test and find very different results.
