Hi Screenim, welcome to the madhouse!

The Nova is a great piece of kit and every now and then, I wonder if I should buy one again. In order to have it up and running you need obviously speaker cables to connect your speakers. Also an ethernet cable to connect it to your internet at home would advisable (although the Nova has also wireless capabilities).

As far as CD replay goes … indeed you need to have a separate CD player which you can connect to one of the analogue inputs of the Uniti Nova. But it would be far more advisable to rip the CD’s with some software on a NAS and stream from there … others on the forum here are much more knowledgeable about that than I am!

Enjoy the Nova!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your Nova. I have one and it’s really good.

I use Kudos KS-1 speaker cables with mine, though there are plenty of alternatives.

You can connect a CD player very easily. But if you have only a few CDs it’s not worth the expense and goes against the one box principle. You can rip them on your computer to a USB drive and then connect the drive to the back of the Nova, which is the simplest way of doing it. If you plan to build a big music library, a NAS or bespoke server is the way to go.

Hi and welcome, sage advice from Klout and HH. If it is not a large collection a USB in the back is simplicity itself make sure you rip to a high res format like WAV or ALAC or better still FLAC if you have software that permits.

On the subject of CD drives last night my neighbour asked to hear some of his Chet Baker collection and rather than be bothered with ripping them we hooked up my £70 Panasonic DVD player from the digital out to my NDX2, and whilst obviously short in performance of the FLAC/WAV rips on my NAS it was surprisingly good.

Good luck.

Hello Sreenim, if you come to this forum you will get a huge amount of advice - most of it based on real experience .

You need speaker cable , I favour Chord but others like the Naim NAC5, it is very stiff and very good value .

If you have some CDs , you don’t need a full blown CD player a CD transport will be very compatible with your Nova , I would start looking at an Audiolab 6000 CDT , it is very reasonably priced and offers very good sound per pound.

Best wishes

Welcome aboard -lots of good advice already given imho.

Naim kit is less sensitive to speaker cables than it was, but sticking to appropriate cables like those from Naim, Chord, Linn, Tellurium Q and Kudos and to equal lengths of over 3m will sound best and avoid any risk of damage.

You can spend fortunes on Ethernet cables and power cables but ime there is no need to do that. Otoh, please don’t do this:-

My suggestion - go for any inexpensive cd player with a digital out into the Nova to use the Nova’s DAC. Then separately you can rip on a laptop at your leisure or don’t bother, as preferred.
I went for the pro-ject cd e. Sounds great. Looks OK next to the Nova.
Use any cables. Use WiFi to avoid a cable and worrying about cables!

Heck you could even use an old DVD or Blu-ray player

Dali recommend a simple quality multi stranded which is what Naim NACA5 is. There are lower cost alternatives but to start out, I’d stick with either Naim or Dali’s own cables. Both of which can be had 2nd hand. Just make sure they are properly terminated with soldered banana plugs.

Seems to be a sudden influx of Oberon users lately. I’m sure they work great with a Nova.

I tested my £70 (now) Sony bluray. It was/is just as good. Just wider, and a bit noisy on startup, makes a right old fuss lol.

Also nowt wrong with good quality screwdown banana plugs.

For avoidance of doubt, i didn’t mean to poopoo soldering. Just that I don’t

Here they are with Miss Cheryl Crow last night! Wonderful!
Thank you all
