Naim Olive

I remember a visit at the Heathrow show for a few years…
Three 500 boxes with two in prototypes boxes if I’m not wrong and the NBL.
Downstairs was a “classic” olive system:
CDX / 82 / 250 / SBL if my memory is still ok…
“Souvenirs, souvenirs…”

Classic caoutchouc feet under the 500!
:ok_hand:

I kinda miss the green boxes. The 72/HC/250 is still one of my fav lineups.

Pre-fraim days.

As it was a listening test room, I understand nothing was moved once it was ‘on song’ and therefore this would allow any changes / additions in set up to reveal improved (or reduced) sonics. Even if this isn’t a recommended naim cable dressed system as used domestically, the ‘character’ of it would have been well established and known by all of the senior team involved in the listening process.

Additionally, you might have also noticed that most of the boxes are facing the wrong way anyway!

Focal Aria 936s and then some Tannoys in secondary room, diverted by a Beresford TC 7220 MkII switch. Sounds absolutely amazing!

I’m an olive fan too

Nice mix of Olive and Black…!!

I’ve removed some posts. Would members please respect forum rules. Thank you.

I see so many olive pre’s that have lights (led’s ?) for the volume and balance - my 102 does not. Can someone let me know if that’s by design or do I possibly have an earlier model? many thanks

It’s by design. The LEDs on the balance and Volume come with the NAC82 and NAC52.

I’m glad you asked this, I only noticed last night that my new to me 102 was without volume and balance illumination, I was a little concerned something was up. Phew, thanks.

Thank you, Richard. Now I have FOMO…

Don’t worry, you can get very close with some white insulation tape.
Both my 72s have a thin piece of white tape inserted into the “slot” on both volume and I put selection knobs. Doesn’t quite work in low light, but for everything else, gives you some idea of where they are.

Update on my Olive setup, which now has a P6 replacing my 26 year old P3 :+1:

These little cuties have come into my life this week.

Project Olive :
Great sound - low box count / small footprint - cool design .

It’s going to be a fabulous Easter holiday weekend. These three little Olive boxes are going to get a lot of music and love.

Sadly, I’m still unable to collect my recently upgraded LP12. Not long now. In-the-meantime, using the Rega TT and CD5 XS, which is just fine…

My idea is to use “Project Olive” in between my LP12 and Epos ES14’s. Looking forward to a 90’s vibe in the house. I’ll have to play all my Brit’ pop / Brit’ rock albums…

The photo was taken earlier today, at the point I had finished : stripped each down, checked everything inside, cleaned and polished, then reassembled.

Would anyone like to see inside the NAC 72 ?

Oh go on spoil us! :grinning:

Okay then. Here you go…

Rear
2x. NA324/7
2x. NA323/3
2x. NA328/2
1x. NA325/7

Front
2x. NA729/1
2x. NA321/4

I’ve already established (a) the phono cards are actually pretty good (b) the Aux input (NA328) is not to my liking, maybe dull or “rolled off” a little, so may change for NA326 link boards, if possible.
