Naim Uniti Atom Bluetooth issues

Hi,

I have uniti atom, all is working fine except bluetooth.

Devices will reckognize atom and connect to it but out of nowhere 2 days ago playback on bluetooth started glitching and stopping after few seconds, and yesterday it stopped entirely.

Tried connecting to my PC bluetooth and mobile phone with exact same behavioour, devices will connect to it just fine and display what song is “allegedly” playing but no sound is comoing out of the speakers.

As soon as i switch to chromecast or Naim app streaming all is ok, just bluetooth.

I have tried resetting to factory 3 times, unpairing, repairing etc.

Looking at forum posts that are similar to it …people never found any solution to this…hardware issue?

Where is the BT module located and is this replacable ?i am guessing it might be integrated to the WiFi antenna that is slotted on the top of the motherboard into a RAM/MXM like looking slot ?

Unit is of course out of warranty

Any help will be really appreciated

You should contact Naim audio support@naimaudio.com, or speak to your dealer about organising a repair.

Ok so i have disconnected it from power, hold all buttons pushed in for few seconds to discharge the caps inside, opened the unit up and disconnected and re inserted the WiFi card on there i suspect the BT module is.

On restart bluetooth is no longer glitching and working fine, however, now, another glitch came into play that never happened before, the rocker volume on top is glitching time to time where i am unable to adjust volume, i can adjust volume by using the remote.

I am thinking of asking Naim for help but shipping costs back and forth, plus the repair itself might cost an arm and a leg…anyone know how much they usually charge for such services please ?

Thank you guys

You need to arrange any repair through your supplying dealer. Bear in mind that opening it up and removing bits may have voided the warranty.

Warranty cannot be voided for opening the unit, having a look and re seating connections without doing any damage whatsoever, this is European law, whoever thinks that by opening the equipment you may loose it should read the consumer rights, however, my unit is out of warranty, so I really don’t care anymore I am just admiring how a company could produce such an expensive device with so many bugs, with such a premiom price warranty should be lifetime

Opening up and touching the insides certainly can void warranty as doing so can cause all kinds of problems. For one thing there’s lots of chipsets in there that can suffer ESD. ESD is a really nasty issue because it can either manifest immediately, or gradually degrade so failure happens days, weeks or even months afterwards. Anyway, you say it’s no longer under warranty, so it’s a moot point. But if you’re tempted to open up and re-seat things and either wish to preserve your warranty or just reduce any damage risk, then best ask for it to be done by your dealer or by the factory.

You should contact your Naim dealer and ask them to arrange a repair with Naim. They should be able to quote you the estimated cost before you commit.
