NAIM UNITI NOVA POWER EDITION Review

Are you sure? I’m pretty certain the power amps can only be had with the stereo Organik DAC, the dual mono Organiks are line level only.

I have to say that the power amps are the weakest part of the Selekt options, IMO of course. So not surprised by your findings. Far better to go for line level outputs with external power amps or active speakers.

You’re most likely right, however, I only wished to evaluate the single box solution.

Quite a few UK dealers have it at a discounted price at the moment. Makes the PE premium a more palatable £2k or so.

There’s some seriously pricey Class D power amps out there with excellent sonic reputations. OTOH the amps in my little AE1 actives are class AB and the speakers are just over £1k in the cheapest finish. My conclusion: it all depends …

Maybe a sign of slow selling item, Naim were too optimistic in their price strategy perhaps ?

It’s currently on a promotion in the UK until mid November.

That’s today!

For dealers buying from Naim. So assuming they have bought some in, it would be a case of “while current stock lasts”.

Well I’ve just bought one and am happy with the sound. I’m sure it will further improve once run in.
Great match for my Harbeth P3 ESR speakers.

As a newcomer in hifi I feel free to ask silly questions. Like, doesn’t it depend on the speakers which amplifier you choose? PE or regular?

As I read it your speakers do not need very much power. So what was the point in choosing the PE, if you permit me asking?

My ears told me the Nova PE brought about a significant improvement in SQ to my P3 ESR’s.
Harbeth don’t need a huge amount of power, that’s true but improve with a more powerful amp.
By the way not a silly question.

There is just something about using a big powerful amp with small and on the face of it modest speakers. I once tried nSats on the end of a 552/300 and you would not believe it. Back in the day people ran active Kans with four 135s. All are so much better than big speakers with inadequate amplification.

same feelings here with a pair of ProAc T10s

Surely not

Not the first time I was wrong :joy:

I noticed that my SN 3 sounds sweeter at low volume than when I crank it up. Class A, perhaps?
