Nait 50 with Falcon Acoustic LS3/5a speakers

Sure, but lossy cabinets need to vibrate in sympathy with pressure from the driver.. so you don’t want to dampen it… which is what I attempted to describe.

I believe resonances are different from sympathetic vibration, and I think bracing and other methods are used to minimize resonances…. Possibly.

You want the speaker cones to move not the whole speaker”keeping it stable and free from movement”.

It works very well with spikes on Linn Kans and LS3/5A.

I have spikes that I have had thoughts of trying between speakers and speaker stands to evaluate that philosphy but it would mean damaging the underside of the speakers which I’m hesitant to  When I try to move my speakers with the current feet they feel rock solid and so do my stands which use spikes onto herbie gliders. I’ve tried sonic design foam feet (and many others) but never got along with the result.

Available on Amazon for very little money.

Ok, good, I did try Torlyte cones, but didn’t have the success you appear to have had.

No that was not what I was talking about, this is proper Linn stands with spikes, the underside of the speakers has to be sacrificed.

They do. I haven’t used it so far on my SS-6 stands though. (expecting it to have a similar bad influence as blu-tac) I’m just using small, adhesive rubber protection pads, with great result. (less then € 1,- for various dimensions)

Ok I used the cones up turned so the sharp end was impacting the speaker stand platform.. so I didn’t sink the sharp end into the wooden cab of the speaker… also I have been borrowing different speakers from my dealer, so damage wasn’t an option.

I see, then it doesn´t work properly,do have to sacrifice some for the perfect sound

Fair enough

I’m happy with it. My Kans (to me at least) sound great and crucially aren’t falling off the stands anytime soon - spikes are great but I don’t really want holes in the Kans. I do wonder though, why would a company supply something with, what to me at least are extremely expensive stands, that doesn’t work? As long as we’re all happy, that’s all that matters :+1:

I think because many don’t want to holes in their speakers

Roksan took it a little further, with spikes on the top of the speakers also…

I’ve seen those before and wondered, as I often do with some of the stuff I see on here, why, just why?

Musicality by stability without being too heavy

That looks rather cool!

How do they sound?

OK, I might have something to add here. I have had, and sold, Falcon Q7 Gold badges in the past. I regret doing so, as I have never got that vivacity back in any of the speakers I have owned. I currently use Harbeth C7-ES3, and they fill the room beautifully but they are not as much fun as Falcons used to be. At the time I was using a Nait 2 with the Falcons, and craved a slightly more room filling sound (22 x 12 x 8 ft. room). I now have a Nait 50, and have spoken to Jerry at Falcon and placed an order for some new Q7 gold badges. I hope to get back what I have lost, plus some extra oomph from the Nait 50. The test album for me is an original copy of Roxy Music’s Flesh and Blood, it’s only with the Q7s that it has sounded truly joyous. I hope that am not disappointed. I’ll post my impressions on here in a few days time.

Thanks, I have now pulled the provisional trigger on a pair of Falcon Gold badge LS3/5a.

With the right positioning and setup I have them sounding (albeit my demo sliver badge) sounding truly fab in my listening room… it was a late night immersive session last night..

The slightly warm presentation of the N50 seems to match well, with the very clear and clean, but not exaggerated highs from the DAVE adding to the mix.

All interconnects and speaker cable is copper. Stands are 50% filled SS60 stands.

Just want to let you know, Simon, that your posts are main reason I went for the Nait 50. Many thanks :+1:

I trust you are enjoying it as much as I do

I agree :+1:

I had the later model with the low stands spiked under and at the back of the speakers .
And fantastic they did sound,so musical with a fast and groovy articulate bass and the spring mounted tweeter sounds amazing.
Now a friend enjoys them big time.

It’s great. It’s the warmth that surprised me the most. It also sounds a lot bigger than I expected, and more substantial than many more powerful amps I have owned.
