Nait 50 with Falcon Acoustic LS3/5a speakers

Well for me Naim active crossovers is vastly superior in the speakers I’ve had both passive and active,Linn Kan,Sara,Tukan and Naim Intro,IBL,SBL,DBL and also Royd Eden.

Good, I have both active and passive speakers.. I find each has their strengths.

Well I will probably close this thread now, but I need to say this setup is the best I have ever owned and had the pleasure to enjoy in my house…

nDX2(as renderer) → DAVE → Nait 50 → Falcon Acoustic Gold build LS3/5a on SS60 stands (sitting directly on the wooden stand plate)

Rack is Full fat Fraim, interconnects are DNM v2, SPDIF lead is Gotham cable 75 ohm, speaker cable is NACA5. full fat Power line into NDX2 and Nait50. Stock cable into DAVE.

Room treatments GiK acoustics.. corner bass traps and mid absorbers on the wall behind speakers. Soft furnished room with carpet.

A down to earth capable system that is the end of it all.

Great that you found ideal matching speakers. The system is well thought out down to the last detail and fits perfectly into the room. Enjoy!

Thanks… the only downside is I am spending all my evenings listening to my recordings at the moment…

I know it sounds crass, but it’s almost as if I have a Time Machine and cast back in time to listening in the production studios of when many of these masters were produced… I love it and it’s addictive.

It doesn’t always work, but it does for a surprisingly large number of my recordings… and even my own music!

I have tried to figure out why this might be the case… I suspect it’s down to the unforced detail and timbral accuracy, micro transients and good relative dynamics , minimum smearing/good phase response, good stereo imaging and sound staging, and a natural sounding eq balance with no detracting resonances or obvious hot spots or fall offs.

Another nice aspect is I haven’t had to faff around with fancy ethernet leads or any other so called ‘network’ paraphernalia - other than regular small office commercial grade equipment. Separating the Naim streamer renderer from the DAC was the big win there for me….

The other tell tell sign of a good setup, is that it’s happy playing all production styles, from modern to old with all compression and intensity levels… there are no ‘no-go’ areas. From ‘audiophile’ recordings to Oasis, from Aphex Twin to LSO .. all seems to work enjoyably limited now by I feel the recording rather than the replay.

Note I have one very minor noticeable resonance around 140 Hz.. but is very narrow and only noticeable on a very few recordings (I have noticed it twice to date) … I think I’ll live with it…

What’s better than the Linn Kan or Nsat? I’m looking for something new and small with little bit more bass.

ProAc Tablette 10 Signature.

The new Accoustic Energy AE1 40th Anniversary. I’m going to have a demo soon hopefully.

Guru Audio 8 or 12. Easy to place and unbelievable bass for their size.

They look fantastic.

I heard them earlier this year and was impressed. But they do need a powerful amp to really show what they’re capable of.

More importantly, they sound very good as well.

I bought a Superuniti yesterday and I’m thrilled. Some say it’s boring, but there must be a defect there. It’s very good for my two speakers.

As @badlyread says, lots of musical satisfaction long term in the world of Guru, don’t also ignore the original, the QM10, which is now in mk3-4 guise and still a mini marvel. Some cracking finishes too.

Dali Menuet SE is a wonderful little speaker that punches well above its weight. Lovely looking as well

im currently loving my little Audiovector QR1 SE driven by nait 50. Great fast bass and a real reach out and touch sound with filigree details from the AMT tweeter.

I keep switching between Magnepan LRS+ and Falcon Q7 Gold. Right now it has been a long period with the wonderful Q7:s on white SS-6 stands (works better in my current room than my old LS3/5a). The cases got scratched up during a move so they are now painted in Liquitex Green Gold acrylics. I also have a weird amp, originally built for the LRS+, for the Falcons but it worked out surprisingly well (a DIY Starkrimson Ultra DMC 2.5 GaNFET).

This piqued my interest when I was an undergraduate I remember designing with my lab partner a mid power audio amp from first principles, and we chose an op amp design driving an NFET … it got very warm and unfortunately it had stability issues which blew the NFET several times…but it worked and looked good on the tools we had.. I trust your DIY amp is far more stable

I doubt you will find anything better than Linn Kan,better to keep them and go for better source and bigger Naim amps to give you more bass from them.
