Any thoughts on the best make of TV for sound quality if a sound bar is out of the question? I want a 55” nothing bigger.
Don’t we all, dear?
Will get in before @Skeptikal does.
Sony A95L, 55 inch gives very good sound quality. The whole screen acts as a loudspeaker membrane.
I use this playing into my Nova via an ARC connection. I like this telly a lot, and it produces a fine picture.
It is well worth an audition.
Panasonic Z90B OLED. It has a soundbar at the bottom and a sub in the back. Brilliant picture and really good sound too. The 55” is available for £1,150, fantastic value for what you get. We have the 42”.
Probably something from B&O but be prepared to pay good money for it…
I wouldn’t know sweetheart. But you reminded me of the lady behind me in the queue for coffee when I asked for a large black americano - she said exactly the same thing.
Thanks for those ideas - I’ll check out the Sony and the Panasonic, but I think the B&O will be more than I want to pay.
I’ve an 10 year old Loewe Reference 55 and it has good sound. Pricewise it’s not B&O level but middle ground. They look great too when switched off. I think their current model is Called Stellar.
Check out the latest Panasonic TV-55Z95BGZ 55 inch, OLED, 4K HDR Smart TV. It has built in Atmos speaker arrays (front, side and upward speakers) that are tuned using room correction via the phone app, and you can plug a sub into the headphone output.
Another vote for the Sony Bravia OLED range which uses Acoustic Surface Audio - the whole screen is utilised as a speaker. I have one and the SQ without a soundbar is just phenomenal
Getting it in before @Skeptikal. Ooer one might say.
At that price, they would quickly sell out!
Plus this TV can act as a centre speaker - to help lock dialogue to the screen - should you ever decide to go down the 5.1 route.
Or perhaps 3.0, so just the three front speakers. I’m currently considering the latter with my A95L, just need to add a suitable processor.
If wall mounting Samsung frame TVs are lovely. Different frames available to look like a picture and match room decor, with an assortment of different famous artworks pre-loaded so it doubles as a picture when not showing TV.
Or, you could buy a proper painting by a living artist and not waste electricity to see an electronic portrayal of a painting you’ve seen countless times before.
We recently stayed in an Airbnb and the TV was hidden behind a picture that simply lifted of.
Seemed quite a neat solution.
Screen burn in……..?
