When I turn it on after a few moments later it turns itself off any idea what’s gone wrong

The switch may not be latching. There may be dust or something preventing it from latching. Unplug it from the mains and then with the eraser end of a pencil, try pushing in the switch a few times to clear it until it latches properly.

Just a warning, if it goes off don’t switch it on again too quickly as you can blow the fuse. Leave it 20 seconds before switching on again.
I’m not telling anyone how I know this.
