NAP 350 - Who’s Tempted?

I take it like myself. You have tried it then ? Or are you just taking a stab in the dark ?

Anyway move on as this is a naim forum.

Getting back on track i am looking forward to hearing the 350’s as the 250.3 was certainly a good step forward

Lovely amp setup which I thoroughly enjoyed for a long time. A 52/135 for utter enjoyment is as good as I’ve heard. I am no more impressed at shows or store demos with amps costing ten times as much

Impeccably bad timing for me, as I’m looking to sell my 272/500DR/300DR system because of house downsizing.

500 & 300…:flushed:

Lol really? I didn’t know it was a Naim forum. But I like to be measured and reasonable with my comments. A destroys b is not how I’ve heard hifi and I’m not going to argue who has heard more expensive systems. My comment wasn’t even directed at you.

I have heard a very budget component entertain me just as much as a far more costly one. I stand by my comment a 552 is not a bottleneck. No way!

Thanks a lot. As already mentioned some time before, your posts helped me a lot finding the path to 52/135.

Excellent - I’ll look out for further news with interest. thanks.

And will open the same debate for me relative to NC250 active into my 606s versus 350

Dont remember saying destroys.
But i do remember how shocked i was when i tried it.
As i said it all depends what you are feeding it with i guess like everything.
Plus until you actually try something you can’t really commit on it as you have nothing to go with.
I tried after being told by another naim user to give it a go, and then just published my findings like everyone else does.
I certainly didn’t have to sell my 552 or my 500, but like everything once you hear something it’s hard to forget

I would find it very surprising that a 252 wouldn’t allow you appreciate the relative benefits of a superior source, if indeed the ND555 is superior over what you have now (I have no opinion to offer having not heard the ND555 or indeed your sources). I certainly haven’t found my 52 to be wanting in that regard. If you’re interested in an ND555, I suggest you try one and decide for yourself…

As written above - 52 benefits from a better source, like nd555

I get that. Again the A destroys B was a follow on comment and not directed at you.

It’s just to say that I think hifi components are comparable.

I am tempted of course by the 350, as by an Statement trio, SME 60, Nd555 with twin ps and Chord burndys and Chord Music power cable on each 555 dr. But won’t be able to buy.
So more realistically, it will be a 250.3, a realistic temptation.

If you could keep repeating that story over and over again for the next few years, that would be great, thanks.

Cheeky! But it made me smile :grinning:

Not a problem at all. Especially when we all know it’s true.

Now that would be very interesting as the cost is identical. As a NC250 owner, I can confidently say it is a stunning amp that continues to just get better. It’s the most fun and engaging amp I’ve heard so I would assume the 350 is spectacular.

I apologise for sowing the seeds of thread diversion . At the end of the day it just about system balance. Going back to the original question about the ND555 on a 252, I think my preference would be to keep the NDX2/555 PS and upgrade the 252 to a 552 first - that’s the system I have along with the NAP 300 DR and it seems to hold everything together nicely when pushed.

I’m a bit of a traditionalist, being an engineer, so don’t favour mixing design typologies in a system. By this, I mean the changes with the NC to the signal and earthing arrangements and connectivity. That sort of locks me to an all classic system.

Would consider getting ND555 before the 552

Yes, I’m sure both options have merit.
