NAP 500 and 2.5 M cables from QED Reference XT400

I’ve had low inductance low capacitance cables for my 500 for a long time. Always stayed cool and sounds magic. No worries IMO.

And still no earth connection to the mains :grimacing:

It’s ordered but my electrician have to many higher priority jobs it seems so I’m long down on his list. Soon I hope!

Ahh,what can be more important

Its beyond me, people invest premium $ in Naim 500 and Sopra without getting a proper length of matched cables.

It’s not about length. It’s about cable geometry and specifications. If using Naca5 then it’s 3.5m.

well i never considered to look into speaker cables length until today for some reason and i was shocked. Eventually i will get the lumina ones but those start from 3 m to 5

would be great for me to not brick my nap 500 lol,

I’ve had QED latest reference model in my system too with no problems. I would worry more about high capacitance.

QED Is in the range of 0.5 inductance for all of their cables cheap or expensive. feels a rip off to pay for 10 m of cable because “inductance” . Even the super lumina is at 0.75 …

There are many many using chord, tellurium, QED, Ansuz and other brands with 2.5m length which works fine with Classic amps. All being low inductance and low to moderate capacitance. With olive series it’s a different story.

I found longer length used with certain Naim amps, sound better than shorter lenght’s
Something like 6-8M will smoke 3M
Look at Kudos KS1 or Witchat which is much cheaper than Lumina.

I’ve had 3.5-7m naca5 at 3-4 different periods. No smoke. A higher quality 3m cable will at tall times deliver more performance from a 500 than 6m lower quality cable. Phantom is not good enough for a 500.

I don’t know about that. NACA5 is perfectly good for a 500, so Phantom isn’t going be be a problem. Fancy cables are overrated.

It’s good but not best. Which fancy cables have you tried with a 500?

That’s irrelevant. I was simply saying that Phantom is perfectly good enough. Obviously there are better cables to be had.

Oh I see.

Yeah recommended 3.5m but SuperLumina sold at 3m.

Our 300DR hasn’t blown up yet

I don’t think I’ve ever seen much other than SuperLumina 3m or 5m+ for sale. Can’t recall seeing 3.5m once.
