NAP250 amplifier and Stax SRD-7

Just a quick question. Does anyone have any experience of running a Stax SRD-7 (transformer box that just uses the mains to provide bias voltage)? Is the primary impedeance of the Stax transformers sufficient to load the output stage of the NAP250 or would some form of extra compensation be required? I really like the sound of my old Stax headphones and would like to use them in my main Naim setup rather than my secondary system which uses Quad 50E’s. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used to have a Stax SRD7 Mk2 with Lambda Pro headphones, but because of the connection requirement never dared connect them up to a Naim amp (I used a Quad 606 instead, which worked really well). I seem to recall there was good reason not to connect directly to the output of the Naim amp…

Should work. I tried it with a 300. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
I tried to hook it up to a 500 but the lead did not reach the inputs.
P.S. 'phones used were SR5, Omega & SR-X.

Many thanks for the reply, I suspected that this would be the case. I have an old Musical Fidelity B1, lying around I think I’ll just connect one of its inputs to the tape loop of my NAC82 and get the transformer box running that way. No risk of turning my NAP250 into an oscillator that way!
