Thats the musicworks block…its very good. I use with the optional “peek” base which takes it from £1 k to £1300. But it is worth the money.
Steve, there is a small tag at the bottom of the fabric grille which goes at the bottom of the surround when in place. The internal rubber ring goes into the groove between the upper nested box and the cabinet. You should also have an O-ring which then goes over the top of the grill. In the same groove to hold it all in place. It is all quite a tight fit but there should be plenty of play in the internal ring and the O-ring to make a snug fit. I used a plastic card to finally push the O-ring into the groove so it then is virtually impossible to see unless you are right up close to the speakers.
The small tag I described at the beginning is there to help you remove the grille which you do by taking off the outer O-ring and then pulling down on the tag to release the grille.
I hope that helps. I loved my NBLs which I had for nearly 18 years, only recently replaced by Kudos 808s.
I’m not home to look but I don’t remember a second O ring, or maybe I do. There is one sewn into a hem around the stocking and another that is a tight fit in the groove you can see visible in front of the veneer in your photo, the groove goes right around the the frame around the nested box surround. If the O ring becomes a chord don’t panic, it can be superglued back into a ring. The system is a bit fiddly but does result in a very light grill.
The manual is worth reading, if only for the warnings.
Those are lovely looking speakers.
I love my NBL’s I hope you’ll love yours too
I have never seen NBLs in that veneer before, but it looks very nice indeed. I had my NBL crossovers serviced in September/October. I reckon that might have been the first time the service department had ever serviced NBL crossovers as they had to bypass the normal route and were personally delivered by Jason!
Take care putting the grilles on (the speakers do look better with them on, in my opinion) but most of all enjoy them. They have so much more presence than the SBL, sonically as well as visually. Congratulations on your purchase.
