ND555 at Olive System

My Audioquest diamond has an arrow. It shall be pointed towards the streamer and in the opposite from the router.
Can’t say in your case, sorry.

Source is always where the signal comes from - and this is the switch… currently re-cabling… hate it  love it

As you don’t trust me, I am just a chicken, let’s ask @Darkebear , who can eat several chickens for breakfast.
My Audioquest Ethernet cable arrow is pointing towards the Nds.

The dot goes at the end furthest from your streamer.
Having said that, I’ve used a number of Chord network cables in the past and the dot was missing on some of them. None of them sounded any different when they were reversed as far as I could tell.

No Chickens will be harmed in my answer:

I use the arrow mark oward the streamer, in my case ND555.
The ND555 grabs the data from the music server and caches it locally - then it is the source in an Analogue signal sense.

I tried both ways and I preferred the way Mr Rooster and AQ said - I tried it the other way for a few days and then reversed it and as with all cable ‘directions’ for me it was a bit rouger-sounding with less HF detail the ‘wrong’ way around.
Possibly it is more an earthing potential thing as to what box is either-side of the cable is more polarising the dialectric of the cable - but as I have no way or inclination to determine reasons I just try both ways and decide what gives most satisfaction in my system for me.

Dot to switch - correct. Nd555 connected directly to switch

Fully trust you - missed your post, sorry !

Thanks a lot !
You Mounted it with the arrow pointing from switch / or melco to nd555.
And tried the wrong direction „arrow pointing away from nd555“ and is was a bit rough with less hf detail. Correct? Sorry - I am a bit stressed today.
In my case - as chrisu mentioned - dot at switch side must be correct.

Changed it today. And it is different. Yes. Less rough … correct. A tiny bit.

Better with the arrow marking at the ND555 end and pointing away from the ND555 - I just looked!

It is a ‘tiny bit’ - these are small cumulative things.

Good to try and then you ‘learn’ what to listen for and can use that with other cables that do not have direction marked as it is the same sort of sonic trait.

Hi
i am still confused.
Better = arrow pointing toward the ND 555
A bit rougher = arrow pointing away from ND555

This is the “wrong” direction" according to AQ
This is with ND555 as “source component”

Found a pic in the net …

This is like AQ suggested I think. But as ever - ears should tell.

Innuos is the server, not the source. My arrow points away from my Melco server too.

Including dust - this is mine from ND555 - probably ignore what I said before as the camera gets what I presently use and have used for many years.

The confusion may come from Chord and AudioQuest making their cables in different ways, one with a dot and the other an arrow.

With Chord, the dot goes at the switch, which is the source of the music.

With AQ the arrow points in the direction the music is going, so the arrow points to the streamer.

Both companies are saying the same thing, just in different ways.

The bidirectional nature of ethernet isn’t relevant, just think about where the music is flowing.

Thank you all for Your clarification!
Now i know that all the cable dressing sweat from yesterday was a step in the right direction.

By the way… anyone with SBLs here?
Within my cable dressing mania I (very slightly!) touched (wich my shoulder) one of my SBLs. I am 98% sure, that my shoulder came in contact with the tweeter compartment, as it had shaked a bit.
After first shock (no one touches my SBLs - not even me  ) I immediately checked the seal via “woofer pushing test” 3 times. All is perfect as ever! First a bit quicker and than it very slowly reaches in final position. A headlamp came in perfect use
Have seen how a woofer reacts, when the seal is broken - he is back in final position at once. Mine was totally different - and the test has been as everytime before! All is indicating, that there is no damage!

Bass is fine - also as before. Sound is fine …

But I am Drago  And Panic is my middle name

Can anyone confirm, that I can cool down.

Loudspeake will soon be another project - new SBL MK2 with new tweeters or… but later

@Richard.Dane should answer you and calm you down I hope.

It’s probably fine. The woofer test should show if there was a problem.

@Richard.Dane - you are the best! MADE my day! Thanks!

Bought an Vodaka cable (1,5 m) for testing with PN

Ready for the next round

When will you try the PN ?
I am impatient to read your impressions.
