Normally a second hand price for a component, second hand, that is 7/8 years old, should appear with 50% trade off. If it’s a good price.
Of course second hand from the private seller would be cheaper then for example demo from the shop.
Look whats happen to NDS price when the ND555 appeared - dropped dramatically down.
But on another hand, the difference between legacy NDS and ND555 is huge, I don’t think that difference between ND555 and his successor will be that big.
Have you compared both for local streaming ? I believe the difference for online streaming is huge, but for local, it’s real, but not night and day.
My dealer has the Nd555 and similar speakers. However I didn’t compared both at home.
No I didn’t but I did compare NDX vs NDX2 and for me the difference was big enough. Could be that between NDS and ND555 (especially streaming locally) that’s not a case.
But the colour screen implementation, online streaming and some other extras made that people wanted to buy it / upgraded- perhaps.
I did (price incl PS) - that’s the reason I took the chance of this once in a lifetime opportunity
From an official and nice naim dealer
But there is a story behind it, as the dealer offered me a reduced price as I saved him a lot of money by the initial offer being calculated falsely.
The problem is that I am interested only by local streaming. All the extras, the screen, Qobuz, Tidal, Airplay…don’t interest me.
So it’s not simple, specially if the budget is so big.
I can also get a 250.3 to replace my 250 dr , a Chord Sarum t interconnect, and a second non Naim 555 ps for all that money.
As I take only credits, it will be the last one. In 7 years I am on retirement.
After being surprised how nice streaming chord music is, I will be hunting for a music din version
If you will ever have an opportunity to compare those two; NDS vs ND555 - do it please! I’m looking forward to your opinion about it.
I have purchased my ND555 from the dealer and it was local distributor demo model (2018), mint condition, came with the new accessories.
I know it’s better, but I have to measure which last big upgrade can be for me.
I will rather stay with the current/ legacy classic line as I’m very happy with it.
I will upgrade some cables for sure and next year the speakers : from avantgarde to arêtte due to audiovector upgrade concept.
You are a young boy , I remember. Around 40 or less ?
So during the next 25 years, I see in my crystal ball in 2048 systems pics: Full Statement, Statement streamer, Magico X10, Chord turbo charged full loom.
My retirement is over 10 years away … but not much over 10
no, 43 already , time goes fast unfortunately.
Youngster
… but maybe my kids will “grab” this hobby and they will possess a Statement one day
It means you are on retirement since 10 years or in 10 years?
In more than 10 … I am 55 years young
In The Netherlands retirement starts after 67. In Germany and France is it the same ?
Same here - currently
Yes, it’s long way
64 here.
