Please could someone explain to me what is meant by “only using the NDX2 as transport”
You would use an external dac from the digital out, so bypassing the internal dac.

All Naim separate streamers have an electrical SPDIF output via a BNC socket on the rear panel. One of their recommended upgrade paths (as an alternative to a power supply upgrade) was to add an NDAC from this digital output. This has been discontinued, but the SPDIF output remains.

“Transport”, of course, refer to the use of a CD mechanism with an external DAC. But its become vernacular for any source preceding the DAC.
