Ndx upgrade

Hi all.
I currently have an Ndx and Xps.
I looking to upgrade to and Nds.
Will the Xps run the Nds or will I need to upgrade that aswell?

It will depend upon whether it’s a Olive XPS or an XPS2 or XPS DR. I assume it’s one of the latter two as you’ve been using it with an NDX, in which case yes, you can use it with the NDS just fine.

It’s the XPS-2 I’ve got. Will a NDS with the XPS be a huge difference? Or would an XPS dr make a huge difference?

I’ve not compared them on an NDS Robbo, so can’t really give an opinion there.

I ran my NDS with an XPS2 (Non DR) and was very happy with it. Big improvement on NDX (Which I really loved). Didn’t think about changing to a CD555PS (Non DR) until some cash became available. I am glad I did though. I went for non DR as it’s cheaper and I feel fits better with my Olive amps.

Do you have any experience with the NDX2? How does it compare with an NDS?

NDX2 has the current streaming platform for improved connectivity and functionality. SQ? … others may comment.

I bought an NDX 2 and for me it never performed well. I even bought an XPS DR to upgrade and it still didn’t sing. Then I found a great deal on an ex-dem NDS which was like new. From the first note I knew the NDS would stay in my system-the music was back.
The NDX 2 has a great screen and connectivity, but soundwise for me a flop. Luckily I could sell it quickly. Even though a lot of people seem to like it- it’s the only Naim device I knew I was not keeping (I had it for about 6 months).
I am very happy with my NDS!

Never heard the NDX2 but if you want the up to date connectivity over SQ then it’s an option. However, for the price of a used NDX2 you could have an NDS/XPS2 or for a little more a CD555PS. Searching for NDS in this forum and reading up on it convinced me it was the way to go and I’ve never looked back.
