I’ve had my NDX2 for 4 months, running off WiFi (it is impossible for me to connect by Ethernet without long wires everywhere so this question is not about Ethernet or its merits). I am very happy with the SQ and the WiFi connection has been rock solid throughout, with zero dropouts. I have 500Mbps BT full fibre and the router is as far as away from the NDX2 as it is possible to get - unfortunately there is no way round this but, as I say, it works perfectly.
My question: I have a second WiFi network which I could use if my primary one were down for any reason. The thing is I cannot see how to connect to a second WiFi network after connecting to the first WiFi network when setting up the new unit. Is this possible? There is no option in Sytem Settings that I can see.
@Bubble have you thought of having a professional installer run the Ethernet cable? For years we avoided streaming b/c of the difficulty getting the Ethernet cable to our router. It took the installer about 15 hours in total but it was money well spent.
Time I updated my profile. I have moved up to a 555PS (too good a deal to miss). In my view both moves are worth it but not all find it so particularly, it would seem, with the XPS. I would suggest you see if you can borrow one to try out.
It depends what hardware you have. If you are using the network provided router as the only “wifi” connection, then you’ll have two networks and you cannot connect the NDX2 to both.
However if you have your own network end point, you can simply switch the backbone connection from one internet router to the other. I have an Orbi Mesh network with 4 end points across 2 floors. I then have Hyperoptic as the main provider and the Hyperoptic router hard wired into the Orbi. I also have a Three network 5g connection as a backup and can wire that into the Orbi in the event of an outage.
Then TV streaming and Naim stuff all continutes to work as it can only see the one network. You still need to switch the one cable in the event of the outage.
Mesh however is not an inexpensive option! You can achieve the same thing with another network router - I used an ASUS ROG one before.
Unfortunately, the NDX2 doesn’t seem to have an option to 1.0.0.0.1 easily switch to a second Wi-Fi network once it’s connected to the first one. However, you might want to try manually disconnecting and reconnecting to the secondary network via the device’s network settings or use a Wi-Fi range extender for seamless switching.
You will need to forget the current network and manually reconnect if you switch networks. Because the NDX2 only stores data for one Wi-Fi network at a time,
