A question for those familiar with Neat and Proac speakers. I’d be interested to know which of the two manufacturers tunes the tweeter to sound warmer?
Or to put it another way, if the high frequencies are annoying on lower-quality recordings, would it be better to choose a speaker with a dome tweeter?
I have a pair of the original Iotas, which have ribbon tweeters, in my office and a pair of active ATCs in the lounge. The latter have dome tweeters made by ATC themselves. They are in such different systems it would not be sensible to read too much into the comparison but the ATCs are much more revealing and in that sense the Iotas do perhaps sound a little “warmer”. My conclusion would be that there’s more to the sound of a speaker in the hf region than the technology used in the tweeter.

Hi, I’ve recently bought my first Neats (Petite Classics) and whilst they have a wonderful top end with their ribbon tweeters I can’t say I’ve heard them sound “hot” or fatiguing in any way.
As with previous reply from @PeakMan, much more than just the tweeter design that affects the balance of the sound in my experience. In my case I find that the Neats tend towards a surprisingly solid type of sound, well extended at both ends of the spectrum.
I did have a pair of Klipsch speakers in a system for a short while and they were much more sensitive in the way they varied based on recording balance.
