Is anyone running a 332 and 333 with just one NC NAP 350? I would be interested to hear what you think. I was considering buying a NC NAP 250 until I realised this was an option.
Can i ask why you want just one NC 350, rather than the two you would need for stereo ?
finance restriction
But then you’d only have a single channel until you buy another 350 ?
If you’re happy with mono, I guess that’s ok.
Saves on speakers too, as you only need one.
I don’t know the technicalities but when speaking to the person about this I got the idea that with appropriate cables this would be stereo otherwise it would have been a pointless discussion
NC250 is perfectly capable with 332 and 333 as source and pre.
Buy pre-owned and when funds permit, a trade in will be cost effective against 2 x mono 350s.
The alternative, which will be a tad better than NC250 would be a NAP300DR, but requires special cable - overall much cheaper than NC350s!
It won’t be. The NC350 is a mono amp, so you’ll need two of them for stereo.
The OP profile does not say anything about speakers. That not withstanding, I am using a 332/333 with a NC 250 and love it. Another question relates to cables. When I upgraded to Chord Sarum T interconnect instead of standard Naim, performance was much better. I would recommend the NC 250 and with the money saved, consider upgrading cables if need be.
It seems logical. However I wonder why it’s possible to buy a single 350?
Are you sure it is possible?
Maybe someone might want one for a center channel/home theatre.
Thanks FR, have seen that some dealers are selling as single amps, so, as No-Quarter suggests, it’s probably for multichannel systems.
Ah ok, didn’t thought of that possibility.
I must have misunderstood the conversation at a recent demo. However at this demo given by someone at Naim my understanding from the conversation was that although Naim don’t publicise the fact a 300 system can be powered by one NC 300. I must have got confused!
The NC250 works well with the 332/333 combination, and I think in many ways it is better than the 350 with my speakers. You can run both the 332 and 333 without an NPX300, but you can’t use a single 350 as a power amp and get stereo.
Interesting…i think this is the first time anyone has indicated a preference for the NC250 over the 350 monos. Can you explain?
It has been discussed before in other threads.
For me, the 350 sound is overblown, too in-your-face. There are some benefits with 350 and I can see why many like it as it is immediately very impressive, but I found it a bit tiring after a while, whereas I don’t get that with the 250.
Thank you. I’ll dig out those other threads that i missed.
Are you sure this isn’t a misunderstanding around one NPX 300, not one NAP 350???
