Apologies, I should have been clearer. All the “clearance” items are ex dem/display with full warranty and all the power amps are DR versions.
What caught my attention most were the items missing from the buy new list. If the products are still to be available why would this be the case? As noted, it may just be supply issues or a falling market for the same reason. I have no idea what the current situation is but assume that not everyone would be prepared to wait months as many on here are.
I fully understand the stock rotation comments but, for some items, I don’t believe I’ve seen it on quite this scale from this dealer before.
The figures given are indeed the discounts not the sale price.
In any event it isn’t going to impact me as I’m not looking to buy anything at present, I just thought I would put the info out there as part of the speculation. Not long to wait anyway and as above new products don’t make the older ones bad overnight.
Its obvious new kit is coming and the classic range is where its at, you only have to look at whats being sold off by dealers everywhere to work that one out, plus naim themselves had stopped supply of certain classic gear over the last 6 months or whatever its been.
The question for anyone in the market for any classic gear is, do you go get one at the discounted price or hold off for the new gear?
New products don’t make the old kit broken, but it does reduce the sale price and want, as you now have a better version to buy if you wish.
CDS3. The lid was manual and of hinged acrylic with a lovely damped action. It was a pleasure to use.
That assumes the new Products clearly sound better and the funds you’ve saved for classics stretch to new offerings where there will, initially at least, be no discounts available.
Some/much of what is coming is driven by things other than SQ.
They will sound better
The Rega lid doesn’t do it for me either. There’s a simplicity and an effortlessness to the CDS3 (and the CDS, CDI and CDS2) lid that is just spot on to my mind.
‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder’….
I’m mindful that the Naim app on phones and tablets is now the Naim and Focal app, designed to control products from both manufactures. I also enjoyed the recent review of the Buchardt A700 WiSA active speaker on Darko Audio. In this model a transmitter sends audio over Wi-Fi to each of the active speakers. The app controls aspects of both the transmitter (streamer) and the active speakers.
It is purely conjecture but could Naim and Focal have something similar planned? Those seeking reduced box count would love this option. Hopefully this wouldn’t replace “traditional “ hifi for those that embrace a multitude of boxes.
If I were in the market for a CD player (which I’m not) the CDS3 would be top of my list. I’ve never got on with CDs, my last player being a 3.5/FC. I believe I may have been happy with the CDS3. Love the lid mech and the whole look of it generally.
Lots of “it won’t make the old one sound broken” which I subscribe too so demo / listen / read at your peril as once you have heard better it’s hard to go back!

Super DR regulators…???
@Richard.Dane probably not for no reason that the CDS3 used to be frontispiece on the Naim website.
Improved DR tech and increased power by ~20W in new design is my guess.
I think you’ve been spending too long on the forum! Mass market in the real world would mean something about half the price of a QB.
I’m mostly curious about how the existing range of power supplies will develop… As it is big part of the Naim way of doing things and ties into most uppgrading plans.
Yes this will be interesting to see how things evolve.
The Solstice introduced 3 new connections with the Type 1 DIN8 socket and the Type 2 and 3 Burndy sockets. It will be interesting to see the new PSU configurations, especially as standby functionality will be carried over into the PSU, something that would be lost if you upgraded the recent Streamers with the XPS or 555 PS.
Oh no not more connectors and naim specific cables. It is already a nightmare.
Yes, and should the above speculation about the fate of 252 be correct, one do wonder about the the Supercap DR… Big part of its
raison d’etre seems to be tied to the 252 upgrade path. At least that is a common way to rationalise buying one en route.
I still want it on my Superline one day though.
