I’m considering buying a new Nova through the Naim Exchange promotion.
Which DAC does the latest Nova use, and which speakers would you recommend?
I currently have speakers from Jean-Marie Reynaud; would they also work with the Nova? I’m a long-time Roon user…
Jean-Marie Reynaud (reminds me my first speakers, JMR DUO), OK, but wich model ?
Lunna
Right now I’m listening to my Uniti Nova. It’s a brilliant all in one player. I love the Nova ![]()

While the DAC chip in itself tells you little, Naim use their SHARC-based digital signal processing, and then a small part of a Burr Brown/TI PCM1791 DAC.
thanks, could you explain what that SHARC-based processing mean?
Which speakers du you use please?
The original white paper for the standalone Naim DAC probably explains it in the best detail;
okay thank you
And what it translates into is great sound and support for most all of the relevant bit rates and sampling frequencies;
Linn Majik 109, standspeakers.
JMR LUNNA :
- 4 ohms (minimum 4,3 Ohms)
- 91,6 dB (2,83V) - 89 (2V)
- 40 to 150 W
NOVA :
- 8 ohms : 80 W RMS
- 4 ohms : 155 W RMS
NOVA will drive them
I use a Uniti Atom with Jean Marie Reynaud Lunna small floorstanders and they drive them effortlessly so the Nova would have no problem at all. I wonder though if the Nova would be underused in this case and might deserve better speakers?
that would be the next on my list.
The Nova will host any number of speakers it really depends on your preference and what works in your room.
