I am asking for comments not recommendations. Especially around the speakers I mentioned. No one has mentioned those speakers so far, but I’m grateful for those who have contributed positively
Well, you are asking about very modern speakers with very old electronics.
So the chances of others having heard, or owning, these combinations is very low. Most who still use the SU will have settled on speakers long ago. And many with experience of the SU will no longer own one.
Your best bet will be someone who might have auditioned a naim Atom.
The speakers you mention are entry level in terms of floorstander budget, again a reason many may not have heard them. If you look at typical dealer bundles for the Atom, you will see that bookshelf speakers in the £1000+ range are common, and when bundling floorstanders the speaker budget can tend to be a bit higher (£2k+ range). The SU is well capable of driving floorstanders in that next price bracket up.
Peter Tyson DO offer the naim Atom bundled with the Q Acoustic 5040 though, so they think that combo works. They also have the speakers on sale just now (£699) if you fancied a blind punt.
Go demo some options (most likely with an Atom, unless you can take SU with you or home demo)! I’m 100% sure some of the floorstanders in this thread would work well with a SU, but only your ears can decide.
