New version of Audirvāna

Audirvāna has just released their latest version 3.0… I personally have always been surprised by what it has brought to my set up. The new version doesn’t disappoint as far as I’m concerned.

I still hope Naim will participate in the ‘Plays with-certification’ program in the future.

Anyway, this is just for those interested.

Have been using the beta for several months.

Yep, me too. I’m on Linux so I am dependant on the remote app. And that production release of the remote is quite a deal better than the beta.

Sound wise as good as ever, the DSP suite makes a big difference for the Linux version in possibilities.

I never got around to trying the beta.

Tempted to save a copy of the current version just in case primarily as I’m quite happy with it.

I’m not seeing an upgrade option for the Remote app. Will the older one control Audirvana Studio 3?

Hah! Typical it’s just appeared as an update.

So perhaps more importantly will the new app control lergacy versions of Audirvana such as 3.5 or Studio 2?

They sent me an email about that a couple days ago.

I got a three-month free trial with my Weiss DAC and tried the 3.0 beta with it. I used it for about a week with my Qobuz subscription, but just never liked the user experience. I went back to Roon and let Audirvana expire without subscribing. I didn’t notice that one sounds any better than the other anyway.

Interesting. I’ve used Audirvana on/off for well over a decade. Initially felt let down when they went to a subscription model but got a good deal on a 2 year subscription around 16 months ago.

There’s something I like about it in terms of simplicity compared to Roon - used that for several years but ultimately didn’t think Roon was essential or best value for me. I think I eventually ditched Roon on a new version release as it was more memory hungry and not ideal without a dedicated computer running it compared to the previous iteration. Great polished software though.

I run Roon with ROCK (Roon’s own OS) on a dedicated Intel NUC computer. I only use my other computers for the Roon controller app. Maybe that’s the difference for me. It’s nice and fast. I also don’t have anything I’d want to run Audivana on, unless I ditched Roon and converted my NUC to linux or Windows.

Latest remote should work just fine with everything as far as I understand. But you may want to check with Audirvāna folks first.
