New Year Intentions are not my style but I’ve noticed that when I get older (47 now) my energy gets drained sooner too. Not so much the physical energy but more mental energy. Especially large groups of people seem to get me tired soon, especially the day after.
Therefore my new year intention is to more selectively participate in social activities. Quality over Quantity.
I’ve stopped this year, however I do drink a good bottle of wine in holidays. I’ve yesterday started the drinking season and will stop again once the holidays are over. I did not have adverse effects of alcohol but my wife - who is doc and sees the other side of society - kept suggesting to stop - which I did.
I don’t know how it is for you, but I seem not to have either mental or physical addition to it.
No, I do n’t have any mental or physical addiction. It’s just a habit that basically serves no good purpose. I notice that my stomach is rumbling a lot, the day after I drink alcohol. That can’t be good.
Wise Man! I’ve followed the Linn Selekt topics too and did the math - but selling on or trading in all the Naim stuff feels painful. Perhaps somewhere in the future I’ll try a Linn Selekt e.g. when the AV2 breaks down I could replace it by a multichannel Linn Selekt.
I gave up my limited beer consumption about 18 months ago (short term tablets were the reason) I have only had two beers in that time and no other alcohol. I can’t sat I miss it to be honest
In Britain we normally call them New Year resolutions, because we resolved to do whatever it is. I was never very good at them, so it’s quite simple I never make any! If/when I decide this I need to want to make a change I just do it from that point if I can. If I was to make one, it would be to start doing all things I was going to do when I retired 4 years ago but haven’t found time for yet, like learning to play my musical insurance properly!
I am 100% with you on this mate. Since 20 years now. But 12 years older than you.
No crowds, no dance floor, no dinners with more than 10 people…..Only concerts from time to time.
I enjoy spending a lot of time alone, walking, reading, listening to music. But love Paris and the atmosphere.
As Sartre wrote, “ the hell is others”. But I am a very social guy however.
Thanks Rooster. I’ve always wanted to be someone very social being able to run from work to family to groups of friends. Alas, it gets more difficult and there is a price to be payed.
My plan is to replace my old camera and buy a new small one to do some street photography. It will allow to document my life better (the garden, children, family) but also to do longer walks and do a bit photography.
Paris would be great for it! August was the most recent time I’ve been there, but we’re considering a trip again - it’s always a great place.
Excellent stuff. Someone in my family really benefits from daily walks too. It’s easy to spot when he walks daily or not. I naturally move a lot which keeps me in shape. Restless nature perhaps
That is what I did, I’m picking up my NSS333 on Dec 27, putting it in my gym with my NAC332 and NAP250 and PMC twenty5 24i’s. I’m hoping this motivates me to drink much less and work out a lot more.
