Newbie

Id like to say hello to all. As a complete Naim virgin, I have dipped my toe into the Naim World, I’ve started with a NAC 112x/NAP 150x, even thought these are entry level components I’m very impressed with build and the sound. No I’ve got my head around the interconnects with different pin connections, I’ve actually got sound!!! Not sure if I’m going down the wormhole that’s upgrading, yet!!! Very happy with my first foray, and the seem to work well with my Ophidian Mambo 2 speakers.

Hi SteveH and welcome

What sources do you have please ?
SteveN

Roksan Xerxes/Tabriz with VM 750SHthrough a Whest Two phonostage. WiiM Pro thing for playing from Apple or Amazon Music(not much bothered about streaming), Musicwave cables to Mambo2 speakers. May have to swap my speaker cables as they’re only 2.5m
Using a heavily modded RP3 at the moment as my Xerxes stopped working??

Welcome, trust us you’ll go down the rabbit hole faster than you ever imagined!

Already thinking about a Flatcap. I do like the sound at the moment, I’ve moved from valve amps, my last one was a hybrid so took the plunge to full SS.

Welcome!
I had 112x/150x for a long time, it was an excellent set-up.
A Flatcap when funds allow will be a nice upgrade (I already had one on my previous Nait 5)

Resist the temptation to upgrade endlessly (you’ve heard of diminishing returns)! Here’s a very positive review of the predecessor to your amp/preamp - he was exceptionally enthusiastic about Naim’s base setup:

Welcome to the forum. I started with a 112x / 150x. It felt like a big deal at the time, auditioning at a dealer and ordering it. I got it with a CDX2 CD player 20 years ago, and will never forget that feeling of owning a ‘serious system’ … of course upgrades happen but the start is the sweetest.

Welcome @SteveH1960 :+1:

Ignore what anyone tells you, this is the best thread on the Naim forum:

Then you have no chance in here if you’re already considering an upgrade. I’ve ended up with a seven box set up. Happy as Larry tho. Seriously tho -lovely folk in here.

I’ve been down the upgrade route many times, came to halt when I paid £750 for some I/C’s and put them up against some £22 NVA’s, no difference, I started unloading my expensive gear and looked for decent gear that worked well together. Just fancied trying Naim.

Mate I started off with a 150/112 x before I got upgradeitis and I’m now at 282 and 250 Dr and presently listening to some Miles Davis and sounds worth every penny. Don’t know if I will go any higher , who knows what the future holds .

Good luck but I would endorse the Flatcap advice, I thought it transformed my first Naim system.
