A blessing in disguise

The snowmobiles air and sound pollutions are highly disliked around here, to put it very mildly, but secretly we appreciate the tracks they leave behind, enabling us to cover distances on foot.
Despite that, the iPhone adds an extra 1.1 miles to the fixed distance, in all likelihood measuring also the amount of sinking in the snow I perform.
Winter is about to start officially only in two weeks but we already have more snow on the ground than the total accumulation of last winter. Someone is in a big hurry..

After a very grey day, there was a welcome splash of colour as the sun went down in Nairn.

Last night, as I was being taxied home from the pub with some mates after our Christmas night out, we noticed the sky was green. Despite being slightly inebriated, I headed out with the camera and tripod and am quite glad I did, even though I didn’t get the stars sharp on the first one.

Cheers,

Ian

The Cairngorms never fail to impress with their mix of accessibility and rugged wilderness - there to explore if you venture off the well-trodden paths. Yesterday was wild and windy, with significant chill, but I enjoyed a superb 5 hours walking. The clouds sweeping across the landscape created some wonderful variations in the light.
