I’m on the train to Pompeii now, works well, mixture of tourists and local life

Not sure if you’ve booked a hotel yet, but the Hotel Grand Royal is one of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed at. Recommended.

Had dinner last night in town, average pizza but amazing salad, but we’ve got sone recommendations for good restaurants now, so will see.

Tomorrow will be a boat trip to Capri or round to Positano, the queue is long so might be worth getting there early.

Today is first full day, so a bit early yet, but it is lovely and the views across the bay are stunning.

When you walk around Pompeii make shure to check out this street:

The whole street is full of brothels  I’ll never forget the look on Mrs Kitfit’s face when the tour guide told us  In fact you can see how well impressed she was (she is the 1st lady in the pic).

If you hire a car and drive along the coast road, enjoy! Go see Positano and all that. You might get to park on someone’s roof. Yes really…

Though the driving styles may not mirror those you’re used to. For instance it might be marked out as a single carriageway, however that doesn’t stop it being used like a dual by locals. In fact I remember six lanes of traffic when there was a bit of a queue. Oh, and mind the overspill of parked cars onto the road at the pretty bits…

I really enjoyed it!

I promise after this I will not share any more ‘holiday snaps’, but here are ‘2 of many’ from Pompeii

Very interesting half-day.

I am not brave enough to engage with Italian drivers, but we are thinking about getting a boat to Positano :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:. :motor_boat:.

Ok, just a few more, if you insist…

If you are ever looking for a hotel bang in the middle of town, I couldn’t recommend Grand Hotel Royal enough.

Terrace on the cliff edge, great views across the whole bay of Naples (Capri, Ischia, Naples and Vesuvius), orange and lemon trees and the staff couldn’t do more.

Maybe this should be on a new thread, Holiday Recommendations

Ok, back to the Nice Photos

Nice. We stayed not far away, can’t remember the name of the hotel but a little higher up and as you show, the views are amazing!
