I enjoy exploring new music besides playing old favourites. Metal is a new genre for me, though I heard plenty in the industrial West Midlands in the 1970s.
I like Nightwish - who are said to be Symphonic Metal. I have not found another Symphonic Metal band that I like… And I have tried a few of them - Epica, Within Temptation - both no from me.
I do like Star One, which is the Metal offshoot of Ayreon. I also liked Midnatsoll.
Metal generally though, is a no.
But… YMMV…
I didn’t realise it seems to be Floor’s face when I viewed it on the big screen. Something about it reminds me of one of Peter Gabriel’s album covers though completely different, just an impression of melting.
There’s definitely a theme linking the 2 releases to date with very similar sounding guitar/instrumental ‘riffs’.
Can definitely see the 80’s theme in the opening percussion (drum machine even?). No idea why but reminded me of some of Toyah’s poppy 80’s output in places.
Quite catchy overall but to me not as good as Perfume of the Timeless.
The children’s choir parts are very nice though to me interrupt the flow of the song - the last ‘chorus’ is remarkably clear compared to earlier parts for some reason. The choir may be an important counterpoint - haven’t analysed the lyrics as yet.
