CDs do not contain metadata or album art, so the Star has no idea what CD it is playing and therefore cannot show any art. Spotify streams include album art, and there is something in the iRadio streams too. Therefore everything is working as intended.
Interesting. I have a Core which looks like one half of the Star. It does not function as a CD player but I’ve ripped my CD collection in it and in that process it has obtained the album art for most (but not quite all) of the CDs. I has had to access an external database to do that but something must trigger that action.
The act of ripping a CD does make the UnitiCore look for the cover artwork. It has three databases (Rovi, MusicBrainz and Free db) that it consults and often for reasons unknown by us users, it cannot find cover artwork and/or metadata. In principle it will keep looking for both if they are missing, but if you edit the metadata/cover art for a rip, then that CD is taken from the lookup schedule.
What I still don’t understand is the following when listening to the radio:
a picture of the radio station appears on the Naim Star’s display. At the same time,
the art album does appear on the Naim app on my iPhone. Why not on the Naim Star display?
Does anyone recognize this?
