Non-native, non-English Favorite Songs

It can’t be beaten, either as a tone poem or as a piece of non-Anglophone, uniquely German pop.

Alpha Blondy, Reggae artist from the Ivory Coast who sings in a number of languages including his native tongue, French and Hebrew.
He recorded this classic at Tuff Gong studios with The Wailers. The theme of the album being a call for unity from people of differing religions.

I disabled my record player quite a while ago - and recently I digitalized the remaining records. And so russian band Kino got rediscovered with their unnamed album from 1990. I got as gift while visiting Tiblisi/Georgia shortly before Sovietunion ended.
To me, the whole album is driven by russian melancholy soul - great!

Reading the post from @Alanm1, @Eoink or @Dozey I was a little surprised that Ulla Meinecke and Ute Lemper were mentioned, i.e. got attention outside Germany. But their active time is in the past (isn’t it?), and so I was wondering to share something more new. Not totally new, but newer.

So, first of all, Rammstein knowing that both videos and music are not with everybody’s taste. For the one below you should keep in mind that it has been quite controversely discussed due to its used means. On my own I prefer the older album like “Mutter” with great song “Spieluhr”.

Herbert Grönemeyer, probaly most to you known as actor in the movie “Das Boot” (1981), is matter of fact a musician. Still nice to listen to “Das Meer”

One rare song in German also from Wolfsheim. Like the one from Grönemeyer a melancholic one

Just a last example that german music can also be quite optimistic is Peter Fox

I do not understand the language, but Barra Barra is a track on one of my favourite playlists for long car journeys:

A beautiful song, “Adam’s Lullabye”.
