Frey and Valhalla . These 2.. sweetest spot
. Odin 2 that’s the peak on a mountain already ! Scary pricing ![]()
You pay by the metre.
10 years ago I budget £1000 for each leg.
1x Frey 2 interconnect.
2X Heimdall power cables.
1x Red dawn speaker cable.
1x Heimdall digital interconnect.
They all work really well together. But, the Frey 2 is perhaps the strongest/neutral contributor.
Shockingly they have since more than doubled in ££ with today’s prices. ![]()
Correct.
Congratulations, fun times ahead ![]()
Initial 2 hours listening on the XLR-
1 ) the speed is Lightning fast heart attacking .
2) the attack is more frightening
3) the emotions it gives is best I have heard in this high tier category
4) the detail digging is deepest I have heard with the same recording which I had auditioned w other top tier cables .
5) very very clean , that makes it so quiet
6) awesomely airy
7) spot on musicians presentation
Shall see what’s the improvement after 50 hours
So far, too good, very obedient cable
The hollo plug is no joke. ![]()
should get an award for this
To add , I thought I have already maxed out my naim , but it keeps on digging out more w every new Valhalla 2 cables installed , and very very happy and asking for more , challenging me to get ODIN 2 ![]()
WELL DONE naim!!! ![]()

Had a good listen to this giant speakers when I picked up my XLR yesterday .
Look at the Valhalla /odin/ Odin gold been hooked up . My god.. the sound - wordless
Thanks for the update @naimophile.
After a proper run in, the difference should be very important. I would guess microdynamics should improve even more.
Hope you don’t need a tranquillizer because of point 1 and 2 ![]()
All kinds of hifi jokes , I have so many ![]()
A dedicated thread should be open then! ![]()
Started one under lounge - HIFi jokes ![]()
Well done @naimophile!
@naimophile I’ve been lucky to test the Frey 2 loudspeaker cable. Well, what can I say? It does sound great as anticipated, I do think it’s worth the stretch and I wouldn’t say it’s light on bass as you told me. Now it’s certainly on my list!
PS don’t they give them away as a Christmas present in your Nordost store? I’m asking, just in case lol.
I wish they do give me as Xmas present after so much spending (£40 k on the Valhalla 2) , and I will pass them to you !! ![]()
Yes the Frey 2 SC never fail , you heard it finally!!. Go for it my friend , ![]()
You would really deserve such a present after all you’ve spent! You are indeed very committed to Nordost. I can’t blame you, they sound fantastic to me as well and the Frey 2 range is the best I’ve heard so far. Your dealer should give you some Sort Kone and Sort Fut for free ![]()
Hahah thank you my friend for the thought, that would be too much! ![]()
Now the Frey 2 is securely places on my to do list, I’ll put them in place at the right time without a doubt! They are too good to be ignored, they are literally trasformative in a Naim system IMO, they really show what a system is capable of.
For Nordost owners -
Isn’t there a contradiction between naim systems and Nordost strips?
- Nordost power strips want the preamp to be connected to a special socket. Something to do with main earth and grounding.
- However - on naim streamers there is a setting for chasis vs float.
- I know one is signal ground and the other is earthing of the equipment itself - but shouldn’t they be aligned ?
