Hi all, thanks for all the comments and advice. I’m going for a, 555PS when I can get my hands on one obviously in mint condition and doesn’t need a service for a few years or so.
I have been saving up for a new record player, but I’m going for an upgrade on my NDX2 first. If the HiCap improvements I got fitting that to my SN2 are anything to go by, then I can’t wait for this upgrade.

I would expect this to make a considerably larger improvement, so you will be in for a real treat.

I would say that adding a 555ps to an NDX2 was the biggest uplift of black boxes that I’ve had. Bigger than a NAP200 to NAP300 or NAC202 to NAC282.

I am seriously considering a PS for my 333. I suspect I would prefer the 555. One question noting service supply issues. Does the 555 use components that will not be availiable to Naim in the future. Would the 300 PS be more future proof ?

Good question; I’m actively looking for a 555PSDR, but a bit concerned about future servicing options too.
It’s mainly the capacitors that need replacement when service on 555PSDR. I don’t see capacitors being a future issue. The end of service on some boxes have mainly been related to design choices Naim made back then with very large ground planes which is increased risk desoldering since it can damage the board. So with risk calculation vs sound improvement I understand Naim decided to not do routine service on some boxes anymore. However repairs of something has gone wrong is still feasible as long as parts exists.
I don’t believe this risk exists in their power supplies. On routine service I believe they mainly change the 5 large caps and the yellow tantalum caps.
Buy one. It’s one of the best upgrades you can do to any Naim box that can connect to it. It’s one of my favourite boxes and I would always count one in if buying Naim knowing what effect it has. A big part of what you listen to with HIFI is the power supply.

Can a 555PS-DR work with a Solstice? I know the NPX-300 can.
Wow this is the direction I plan on going. Nice to see a ND5xs2/nDAC/555ps with the NAC332. I’m sure that combo sounds excellent!

It’s impossible to really say, but I think adding the 555DR to the NAC 332 is a more significant impact in my system than it was adding the same power supply to the nDAC…
recency bias or not, I’m stoked.
