You will convince yourself as you sold your 552/500 and own now the N50.
You said however earlier that your room is not big and difficult…

Yes you did - but not side by side as I remember. I am a big friend of „less is more“ and I own a nait 50. but there is more happening with 552 DR / 500 DR than with nait 50.
you should try 332/350 someday

This is exactly right sweetie. I’ve written before how much better the Nova was with the ND555 as a source. But with the 552/300 the scale, weight and effortless drive is in another league altogether.

Nice that you like it - and nothing else counts! But if nait 50 is better (in every case) than full 500, naim would have serious problems.
By the way - I liked my nait 50 from the first second and with nsats and nd5xs2/dac/xps is does a wonderful job

You are never trapped, it’s just being lazy. I 100% know as I have done it, and as you say life is to short, and so glad I did what I did.

The NAIT 50 is quite beguiling. It has a unique charm and voicing. I fell into one and it suits my new smaller room, Spendor’s and taste very well.
Right now, I’m using the LP12 and NSC222/300 with it but I have an NSS 333 on order.

I wanted to say that in your case , your room principally, you couldn’t have the benefit of what really a 552/500 can do.
3 years ago I had a 300 dr in my past room. It didn’t worked well. I had too much overblown bass . For me the 250 dr worked better and gave more pleasure. It’s the same logic.

Thank you for all of your input. Very helpful. I have made a decision of sorts. I plan to buy on the second user market/demo market and so in all likelihood I’ll be buying blind. I will be looking for either a NSS 333 or a Chord Dave whichever comes along first. Of course the Dave will need a front end and most likely the 333 will need a power supply. I can live with three boxes and either way it will take me a decent step forward. I’m back in the UK in a couple of weeks and I’ll start searching then. Next up speakers….Thanks again

No rush with a PS for 333. It doesn’t sound bad at all without but as always with Naim products improve with a good power supply so you can take it step by step (oh baby gonna get..)
