Are they sky rocketing, a friend and I noticed that HCDRs are shifting at £1k+ and SCDRs at nearer £3k?
Sold both my HCDRs for over £1100 on ebay over past 12 months. Tells me there is a need albeit at £1100 rather than the £1350 they were new. Wonder if anyone has told naim?
Well they are a rather universal upgrade.
Exactly. Wonder if naim forgot this.
HCDRs are rising in price it seems over what they were 18 months or so ago. I bought one about then from a Naim dealer recently serviced for £750 or thereabouts.
I think Naim are well aware.
Thats great news.
I’ll have to dust a few items shine up, and put the price up with xx%![]()
But then compare 282 and 252 prices. Gone the opposite way to the HCs. Had to pretty much give my serviced near mint 2013 282 away.
Not sure that the SC prices I’ve seen suggest they are as sought after as the HCs?
SCDR in one dealer at £3k.
Umm. Who knows, it might make the money. The eBay prices at least show sold prices rather than asking.
Was that in November 2024 for £1250 ?
Seems to be considerable disparity in the pricing of 282s on the bay at the moment.
The appraisal also depends on the country and Naim’s market position there.
I had my 282 appraised in 2014 when it was just 6 months old. Wasn’t worth more than GBP600 (seriously!) in Japan. Because, “all the Naim users here have been pushing up daisies for the past decade”.
Appraising for the international median is more difficult and many dealers and sellers won’t know how.
Cant remember exactly date but according to ebay was “ over a year ago”. Nov 2024 could be right. It was a 2013 model and recently serviced.
If you speak to any dealer you’re likely to hear a similar story.
Trade in pre-loved kit is strong, and PSU or anything with late serials are getting much harder to source.
In terms of HiCap it’s kind of a universal need or upgrade covering 202/282/SN and others. So no surprise prices are high.
Everyone who has, or purchases, classic kit has been moved onto pre-loved market for any supporting PSU or upgrade. There’s still an awful lot of classic amps out there!
With everything now being discontinued, that’s a huge market block removed from the naim balance sheet.
I bought an olive hi-cap from a dealer a bit before COVID for a very reasonable £300. Once COVID hit prices skyrocketed and availability dwindled. I think people were bored at home spending their COVID bonus on upgrades and a hi-cap is the easiest upgrade to an existing Naim system. Hi-cap prices seem to have remained high ever since and the discontinuation has only pushed them higher.
S/H NDX2 went from GBP2200-2400 to 3000+ since late 2025.
I thought it may have been your 282 that i bought, but it isn’t. Mine is a 2003 that was also serviced (by Class A) in 2024.
Doesn’t sound like it. Mine was, from memory, a 2013 and serviced about 4 months before I sold it. It would have come with any service receipt. Think classA did the service though.
