Hello from France everyone,
Could a kind member of the Naim community tell me whether such a thing has really existed at some point or is it more likely that I bought this oddity from someone who got 2 covers messed up (after replacing the volume pot)? Cheers.
Hello and welcome,
1st one I have seen,
Looks a mismatch case and body
I quite like the look
Exactly!
Thank you for your reply!
Yes… weird!
Yes, no Olive Nait 2 came in a CB case as far as I know.
You could turn the case around and/or paint the front edge black…
I have read, on other forums naturally, of folks removing the paint from the ends of olive cases to give precisely that “look”.
I wonder what it looks like from the rear?
It should be painted black. From memory of my CB cases…
Regular black finish at the back. Yes I could turn it around I suppose… What a simple and great idea! Thanks a lot for the advice Ian!
Definately a Nait 2 (CD edition) with a CB looking sleeve, looks odd IMO.
Its easy to do, unless there is a grounding screw… In addition to the 4 feet.
Ok, thanks! Will check tomorrow and let you know!
i’ve seen CB in olive case from the change back in 88 but not the other way around . kool
Another two possibilities:
- It’s a staff build. The rear panel might shed light on that if you have a pic.
- The original case was severely damaged and a dealer fitted a CB case from knackered junk they had in the back room. Not clear whether the screw holes would be the same or if they had to drill new ones. A shot of the underside might also provide clues.
Here are two pictures. If not too difficult for a person like me, I will try to move the case around. I shoud - just about! - be able to unscrew the 4 screws in the rubber feet, what about the allen screw, do you know what it’s for? Should I extract the amp from the front, by pushing from the back?
Thanks to all for your comments and recommendations!
