One step forward: ER +lpsu

I put the ER in front of my innuos

Found got best sound following French roosters advice with following

modem/router with spare LPS > ER > innuos > NDS (now replaced with DAVE) audio quest cinnamon all the way and last cable from ER to innuos is chord super sarum ethernet (found this more natural sound than audioquest diamond i had before)

Thanks for sharing your approach mbj666. Looks like the Cisco is redundant! Do you also have a NAS in your audio chain? If so, do you connect it to one of the ER A ports or direct to the Innuos? Not sure if it makes any difference.

Peter

PS I think I must be nearly getting there thanks to all the helpful responses on the forum. Thanks all.

Peter

I have a second switch fed off of modem router directly (use an ifi dc plug on that switch and again a short audio quest cinnamon for peace of mind) and have 2 nas and myriad of other network hanging off that like net gear orbi, hue hub, etc

I was really surprised how sound of ER improved further when I simplified the route to it directly from the router (I had another switch in their previously like you)

Worth trying anyway

:+1:

Wouldnā€™t connect NAS to innuos as they generate noise i keep it out the chain now as previous post

Good to know, thanks.

Peter

Youā€™re using the Sarum streaming cable from switch to Innuos rather than Innuos to Dave?

yes sarum super array ethernet from ER to innuos

have sarum super array USB cable from innuos to DAVE

plan to add the phoenix USB reclocker next year after demo of course is supposed to be nice combo

Ah, of course!

Iā€™m also using a Sarum T from EE to Innuos and have replaced the Sarum T with a Music from Innuos to Linn KDSM, both of which are simply wonderful. Will have to get round to shifting the ā€œoldā€ Sarum T, which is sitting idle.

Nice

Plan on upgrading my USB to sarum T next been impressed when I upgraded my rca - din cable to sarum T

Not sure i wanā€™t to hear the music think better not to know sometimes

A bit slow to implement advice but I have finally removed the Cisco from the audio chain and added a powerline to feed the Innuos power supply. Perhaps coincidental with the ER having had some time to burn in but the overall sound of paradise radio is much better than before. When I first plugged in the ER, I found there was a bloated aspect to the bass; thankfully this is now missing from this eveningā€™s sounds. It all sounds much more cohesive/ together and Iā€™m quite impressed now. Thanks again for the helpful advice.

Looking at cables todayā€¦the number has grown exponentially with the ER, lps, clock, etc.

Has anyone replaced the short ā€œcheapā€ cable from the lps 1.2 ultracap that powers (going into) the etherregen (or similar cables)? Is there some benefit to be expected from ā€œupgradingā€ this sort of cables conveying DC current? and in this case has anyone a reference?

Separately Iā€™m still expecting a Belden BNC cable to pair with my new clock, looking forward to see the benefit vs the unbranded cable in place.

Not sure i can answer your question, but a lot of lps suppliers offer a silver type dc cable for their premium cable. I know @frenchrooster and @MichaelF both have silver type cables.

Again I canā€™t answer your question as I cannot compare the silver cable I was recommended by the guy who designed the Paul Hynes supplies, so I have to trust his opinion. I am very pleased with the end result however.

Uptone recommends the Ghent dc cable . You can buy from the Ghent site. Around 30 euros. Curiously they more believe in a better dc cable than better ps.
Worth a try but you will wait 1 month.

Thank you FR. Will try! Is there only one type of plugs on both sides or do i need to be careful?

Check on Uptone site for Lps 1.2. I think to remember itā€™s 5/5 2/1.

You have it ? Some uplift observed ?

Yes on upgrading DC cables. In fact the builder of my Sonore Power Supply believes DC cables make as big a difference as the power supply itself. The fatter the better and short as possible. Silver vs good copper I donā€™t know about. Keep in mind if you built a piece of gear with an internal power supply you would make as short of a connection as possible using the best hook up wire you can afford, not an extra long cheap piece of tinned wire. Iā€™m using a Ghent Neotech solid 16AWG JSSG for my connection from the Sonore supply to the opticalRendu at .3M length.
