I’m curious if Naim or authorized service centers are able to retrofit white LED for the center front fascia Naim logo?
I’m specifically interested in the 555ps , but assume the same answer might apply to the range of OC products?
The 555PS DR is sold new with White LED. Can this be retrofit?
I would think it depends on if it is electrically identical to the green LED or if it requires different circuitry of any kind in which case it won’t be a simple swap over. Whether or not it’s going to be a cost effective change is another matter.
This post from Richard suggests that it’s an easy swap that dealers can do themselves.
That’s good service. I remember Cyrus changing the shade of their casings every two years so you ended up with different colours. Similarly their LED’s had different brightness depending on year.
Now if Naim would offer a retrofit of a normal LED for the 50 instead of the bright lightbulb sized one they’ve used …
I’ve been told conflicting information at this point.. Would love an official confirmation from Naim on this?
The led on the 50 has more than 2 pins. I did think about options to reduce that glare. Nothing complex im sure, but would require a multi pin led ( think its effectively 2 leds , regular and hyperbright, in one package).
Real question is who at naim thought that searchlight led was a good idea?
They were clearly wearing strong sunglasses or the there was a power cut to factory lighting.
@Richard.Dane possible to get a final verdict on this from someone at Naim? I’ve been told it’s not possible by a US dealer. Information here contradicts that, but only definitive as “I think.”

I would ask Naim, they would know for sure.
The green logos can be easily changed by a dealer ( apart from the NAP500 and cd555) but maybe there’s something different with the white ones??

Official response from Naim Support for future reference:
“Although it is technically possible to retrofit the white logo to the Original Classic range on certain units such as power supplies, it is not recommended by us due to the voltage differences between the L.E.Ds.
This becomes even more complicated when it comes to other products in the O.C range such as streamers, as this involves software being rewritten on the streamer boards to compensate for the voltage changes, therefore it was decided that retrofitting Green logo units with white logos was unfeasible.”
When I pushed for clarification on OC power supplies, the 555PS DR specifically:
“We do not provide this service due to the board changes necessary to adjust the voltages between the green and white logos.”

I’m disappointed that this isn’t an accessible retrofit, to keep more visual consistency across otherwise compatible product generations. Nonetheless, greatly appreciate the swift and thorough response from Naim Support. Thanks team.

Or maybe just a case of “we can’t be bothered with legacy stuff any more”
